Im interested at how my pictures would look on paper, i know at the moment there not at the level that id hang them on the wall, but would like to see them.
Our printers are a bit poor really at work, does anyone know of a cheepish printer that i could use on the net?
what sizes do you recomend i get to get a good idear or quality.
 
The answer generally is it depends...

What is the resolution of the photographs that you wish to print and what sort of sizes would you like to print at (6x4, 7x5, 8x10, A4, A3 etc)

In terms of printing services, www.photobox.co.uk are cheap and produce excellent quality prints. They will send you a calibration print so that you can set your monitor to match

there generally 2048x1536 from the cameraar 72dpi 24 bits, i know them down to around 800x600 in PS but woul it be worth leaving them bigger to get printed,
probably A4 or A3 at the most.

Another vote for photobox, plus they have offers from time to time, I've had a few BOGOF prints which are now on the walls at home :)
 
another question sound a bit silly i got there calibration image on screen what do i do with it, :S
 
are all photo's from SLR's 72dpi by default and if so does this cause problems printing larger sizes as I notice that photobox recommend 300dpi if you want to print full page on a photobook
 
Photobox gets my vote too. I ordered a batch of prints on Tuesday in 2 sizes. They arrived the next day but unfortunately the larger ones had a slight (and I mean slight) bend on one corner. A quick call to photobox and they were re-printined and delivered the next day, no hassle. I can't argue with the service or quality.
 
always upload the highest resolution you can for quality purposes.

Re: the calibration print- ask them to send you a printed version of it, then you can alter your gamma/monitor settingsto match. It's a quick/cheap way of calibrating and is good for most prints. They'll send you one with your first order, but if you're concerned they do send them out beforehand as well
