Can anyone help, there is a photography magazine just been out and they run an article about printing on canvas

They rated one as the best around - if I remeber rightly it was a 16x10 image for 39 quid delivered

I cant find my magazine anywhere, Im starting to think my dog has eaten it :help:

Can someone let me know the name of the website that got top score, thanks

:bang: :thankyou:

I know the mag you mean and the company - just dont have the data at work! For info, i received a 20x12 inch print from them yesterday and the quality was superb. The cost of that and postage was about £48

If no-one can help out in the interim, i'll look it up when i get home

max speilman do them for quite cheap.

sorry can't offer any more help than that.

www.photo-canvas.com are worth a look, dye sub prints than can be cleaned with soapy water and pine frames that can be re-stretched when the canvas relaxes over time. Prices are pretty good too...

And that is the very Company that was reviewed as being best in the mag - well done pxl8

Gold award is great, but at twice the price of where I source mine I think I'll stick thanks

What is god though is that customers see prices like these and can't believe I can offer them for about the same price including doing the shoot; nice for me then is that rather than one they often buy 2 or more

are all these ones those ones where the priint goes round the edge of the canvas? I hate those with a passion!! :D

I had a big one done at colab as the client wanted to mount it in a frame like 2 she had done a few years ago.

They are stretched round an open wooden frame and looks like an oil painting. Colab were great.

I used photobox for a couple of mine and the result was really good. I've ordered a couple of 30cm x 30cm prints from http://www.mycanvasprints.co.uk/ after a recommendation from here, so we'll see how that goes.

They were £25 each delivered.

Aren't you worried that in a year or two your clients might be bad mouthing you because the canvas you supplied has started to flake and go saggy?

Nope, they all get the option of a higher quality and re-tensionable canvas for 3x the price - produced very locally to me, but no-one has taken it so far

They tell me something like... it's art, in 2 or 3 years time it'll not fit in with the furniture or decoration or they'll be bored with it. At £400 a time they are stuck with it cos that's a lot of money to throw out, but at £130 it's a consumable that'll be replaced more often

Most of my shots they buy are of their kids or pets, so they replace them as they grow up - gives repeat business that way and frankly, most of my clients locally aren't that flush so I doubt they'd buy a £300+ one in the first place

£130 for a cheap coated canvas? What size is that? Sounds like a hefty markup you've got there...

I have some inkjet printable canvas. An Epson 1400 photo printer. What media setting would you choose for printing? I had it set to Archival Matte thinking it might be a good choice but it took 10 attempts before my printer would accept the canvas! I have been advised to set for thicker paper but that choice is not an option:'( When eventually it did print it was excellent BUT that was only a free sample.. I have 3 A3 sheets which I have bought in anticipation and do not want to start spoiling them!:shake:

Any light shed on this matter would be most appreciated:lol:

But why the larger profit margin (333% instead of 232%) on the quality item?

Why pay £100 for Armani jeans over £20 M&S ones?

Because you can

Oh, and I'm guessing your maths is off as I'm VAT registered! So you'd make more money at the same prices if not having to deal with the dreaded VAT-man
