Hello, just created a layout in photoshop on a A4 document, when i have gone to print it photoshop gives the message "The image is larger than the printable area, some cropping will occur." how do i get around this with an A4 image?

i need to print the layout to exact measuerments so can t scale to fit media

Open a new document in PS, resize it to international paper (A4), colour it white.

Then open you photo, with both documents open, click and drag the highlighted photo thumbnail from the layers palette onto the open white A4, you can now close the photo file down.

You should be left with 1 document showing 2 layers, 1 white (bottom layer) and the photo on top.

With the top layer selected click on Edit>Transform>Scale. You will then have grab handles to move the black lines to the edges of the white (A4) document. ( You may need to shrink the whole document to see the grab handles (ctrl - on a pc and cmd - on a mac).

Once you have guided the lines to the edges of the document you can flatten and save.

Go to image>image size and check that it is the correct size.

Thanks for the reply but not quite what I was after. Basically I have created a layout or s table to print out adhesive labels. All created on an a4 layout, but when I try to print I get told cropping will occur and not sure why, any ideas

Why are you trying to do adhesive labels in PS?

Doesn't any word type software document just auto size your document labels to suit your input of stock label sizes?

I am intrigued as to why you need PS for this job.

I assume you are trying to print edge to edge ? Does your printer actually do that? If it doesnt it will "crop to fit"
I do some work in Photoshop but use CorelPaint to print through as its a LOT easier to get layouts and scaling right.

I only have a crappy desk jet for document printing but in the print settings I selected borderless A4 and that seems to get edge to edge printing.

Am using photoso as I planning on printing keyrings, have an action to resize a photo thn wad going to copy them to the table and print s full sheet for cutting for this would be quicker than going into word.

Still don't get why an a4 document isn't printing

are you looking at the printer properties? Or within the photoshop print settings

Both.................. I can look at my printer properties through the print dialogue box in Photoshop.

Can you mail me a copy of the document and let me have a look?

just having a look and cant see edge to edge printing, i can forward the document if you can supply email address, thanks

Just don't get why an a4 document won't print as a4

This is normally down to margin sizes, or lack of them... which printer are you using?

So I need to start with a document smaller than a4 then I should be okay
