Printing cropped images

Can someone give me advice on best ways to print a cropped photo?

ie something that is not in the 6x4, 7x6, 8x10 standard print format?

Do you add a border? If so how?

Or do you just send cropped jpeg to the lab, and let them sort it?

By sending it the lab you can ask them to fill the frame which will do a kind of crop again or fit to frame where two sides will have have a white edge.

I crop to the print size, always. That is I preset the crop size in the crop tool then move it around to get the best frame. If there is something on the edge of the frame I did not want then I clone it out.

You could cut off the white edges when you get it back from the printer. A ruler and a sharp craft knife will do.
