Printing confusion

I ordered some basic prints today from Jessops as I knew I was going to be passing one of their stores so I could take advantage of their click and collect service.

I am a bit confused now that I'm back at home and have had a proper look at the prints. I ordered a load of 6x4's which have all come out fine, however I also ordered a few 12x8 prints that are the same as some of the smaller prints. With the larger prints, they have all been cropped on the shorter side, now I am confused as to what has caused this as all of the smaller prints were fine, and the larger prints are just double the size so it isn't a case of differing size ratios or anything and everything was printed with the same files as with the smaller prints.

Anyone have any ideas? This has left me really confused

They will run them through different machines + Jessops assume their staff are idiots and so in most stores lock down the printers.

Really, it's a lottery what you get.

Thanks for the response Jonathan, I will try ordering prints elsewhere and see what happens

Well, there really should not be any difference crop wise between 6x4s and 12x8s no matter how they are printed.

Exactly what I thought, Oh well I suppose Jessops printing services work in strange and mysterious ways :shrug:

:lol:They do indeed.

What was the printed on the back of the 6x4 and the other size? It may indicate what process, and type of machine it went through. Wet Lab/ Dye Sub/ Inkjet.

Unfortunately there is nothing printed on the back other than my order number, name and the file name of the image.
