Hey hopefully I simple question for a simple answer.
I've just got Spyder 3 express and calibrated my monitor.
When it comes to printing, through Lightroom 3.
What colour management should I use?

Common sense would tell me the most accurate would be the Spyder 3 monitor profile as that's what my monitor shows.

Am I wrong?
 
monitor profile is just for the monitor. profile you use for printing should be specific for the paper/printer/ink combo you use.

Because any ICC profile added to that Windows folder will become available to LR.

You could have a ICC profile for caramel custard in there but that does not mean you should use it. Just joking. ;)

No you should find a profile for your printer that works best for that printer and media combo. I don't think you spyder does printer profiling where you print a colour chart and scan it, so try downloading A canned profile and just see if it matches what you see on the monitor.

You might find the monitor profile you made works for you, I doubt it, but the printer profile isn't the same thing as the monitor profile in moat cases. You usually find a profile for one type of paper won't work as well for a different paper as they are not all the same colour white and other properties of the paper van effect how the print turns out.
 
Lightroom shows you all the profiles that are within your computer. It doesn't differentiate which a monitor profiles Printer profiles or even colour spaces. make life a bit more interesting

In the printing set up you need to select the appropriate printer/paper/ink profile.

for example

HFA_Eps2880_PK_FineArtPearl.icc

Which is the profile for Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl for my Epson 2880.

You'll also see some tick boxes next to each profile. If you tick the ones you want they will appear in the preferred selection list when you go to choose the profile you want
