In my course last week we ran over printing and mounts but I still have a few questions I would like answering and you guys are normally a good source for information.

How would you guys present prints to clients? In my class my tutor had some prints on mount card in a cello bag and I thought that was really good, but I prefer the mounts which are like frames, but never seen one not sure how you mount a photo to them, if they slip in or need attaching. Also im not sure who to use for prints as we got given some local info on printing and mounting but they seem more bespoke and as such a high price.

I also would like to know what peoples opinions are on what style of print I know it depends on the photo but generally to people stick to gloss finish?

I have at using DSCL but am a little confused as it mentions downloading profiles and I'm not really sure what I'm doing to be frank.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Any help? I know it's a big ask.

A search on YouTube for print or photo mounting will bring up lots of advice and demos. It's how I started.

I'm no expert and only mount a few of my pictures but I use a 'T' mount so the picture hinges fronm the top and will not warp etc which may occur if you seal it down on all 4 sides.
I use frame mats purchased from Ebay, with a loose backing board placed in a plastic bag and sealed.......all are available from traders on Ebay or from http://www.frithandcompany.co.uk/
This shows the T mounting method, if its A4 size I use 2 T mounts whereas with A3 or A3+ I use 3 T mounts

I use both gloss and smooth cotton high white by Innova.
I use white frame mats with a B+W image and off white frame mats for a coloured image.....but its personal choice in the end

Just looking at DSCL colour labs for prints and it says about resizing for correct size prints, i'v never done this and am a little confused.

Having looked at one of my RAW files the pixel dimensions are 2592 x 3888 but according to their size chart that would only get 12 x 8 sized photo. But I have had a photo printed as a large canvas and not had to resize or do anything so am totally confused.

When I adjusted the dimensions to fit one of there sizes to see what it does it completely distorted the image and I'm not sure what i'm doing, so please help me.

I think i'll mount and then use photo corners to hold the photo so the client can choose to keep it in the mount and frame it as is or choose to take it out and frame another way.

Thanks Yellowbelly, nikonuser what is a frame mat as I can't find anything on them, thanks for your advice!

** Also how do people offer the photos to view before the client can choose which they want for print, if you are on location would you send a sheet with small thumbnails for them to select a photo or create a gallery online for them to view privately and select a photo? If online what software would you recommend to create private galleries?

Thanks
