After a bit of advice please... (no change there!)

Am looking for a new printer, and had found a Canon ip6700d that I liked the look of. However, I've since since a Canon mp810 which, for an extra £30 odd, has a scanner and copier, which could prove more than handy to have.

Both printers have max res of 9600 x 2400 so dont think it will affect my photo quality...

Anyone got either of these printers? Any thoughts?

Sorry an epson kid me:(

Ditto Epson :)

Argggghhhhh!!!!! ;-)

I have the iP6700d which is a very nice printer. With Epsons it is usually fairly easy to find out what printer is in the guts of the all-in-ones but I can't seem to dig up any info on this one from Canon.

The MP810 uses the same type of cartridges (CLI-8) as the iP6700d but uses less.

The iP6700d has 3 colour, 1 black and 2 photo colour.
The MP810 has 3 colour and 2 blacks.

Whether this will make a big difference to print quality I can't tell you. The Canon website has a facility where you can get a free print from the printer of your choice but it doesn't offer the ability to select either of those printers! They appear to have been superseded by a new line of printers. Might be worth taking a look at them.

Thanks Pooks. They both claim to have a max res of 9600 x 2400, so I assumed they had the same internals... however, that surely can't be true if they use different inks?

Hmmm, now I'm confused!

Just looked and, interestingly, the iP4300 also uses the same inks as the 810MP and boasts the same resolution, so maybe we've found the guts of the 810?

Pooks - the iP6700d seems to be the only printer to use the 'P' type cartridges... are you able to get hold of these ok or are you finding this difficult at all?

Thanks again
