Printer Woe..

Iv got a Canon mp780 printer, it does everything i need... Print/Fax/CD print/Scan (Negs too)..

Anyway, im forever having to clean the heads!! untill today, iv tried everything!! one of my blacks has almost completely stopped working. iv used Isopropronol to bath the head in and its still not cleared it!

I think i need to get another printer but dont know which to get.. idealy it will have the same abilities...

Has anyone got any ideas??? :shrug:

Tony I have a little A4 HP5280 and it does everything I want and it is below 100 so thats a plus... depends what you are after. This one uses the vivera inks and it does a cracking job.

A little thought.....

Using IPA will penetrate the nozzles slightly and then dry the ink slightly as it evaporates. This will most likely leave a thicker solution of ink in the nozzles and you're on a downward spiral.

I would think a water based solvent would get you out of the loop.

A trick that works with many Epson printers is to use a syringe to flush the alcohol through the prind head, no idea if that will work on a Canon though.

As for a recommendation for a new printer, Look at what is available, only you can tell if it's what you want.

Does this printer still work printing normal text and stuff? If so then I would just keep this one, and get a dedicated photo printer, maybe something like an Epson 1400?

Have you thought about changing the print head in the current one? I am not sure how much that would cost, so am not sure if that is viable.

thanks for the help guys,

its almost sorted its self out noe, although when i print a test page the black in question isnt great.. iv used an air can to blast through and it seemed to help..

FJ i thinmk i might do that, when iv sorted my work problems i'll look in to getting a dedicated photo printer. i like the one iv got as it scans negs and is multifuntional..
