printer upgrade?

hi, ive been offered an epson 1400 for a good price, but i already have the 1290, is it worth upgrading?

IMHO, I'm the type that the printer, so long as it still gived good prints, will never upgrade. Cameras however...

i know what you mean, the only reason really for me is the fact it has individual inks, whereas the 1290 doesn't, and its quite annoying throwing away a cartridge just because 1 colour has run out.

Oh yeah I agree. I have the IP4600 with all individual inks and it is much better. Also, it doesn't work out tooo dear - I can get the CMY OEM multipack of amazon for £19.50,...and as for the 2 blacks I just use 3rd party and results are fine. My gran used to have Epson, but inks always dried out!

I have an Epson 2400 running Permajet inks (CIS), been using it for over two years (fantastic results). Also have a Canon iPF5000 (12 ink system) never been switched on, waiting for the Epson to die. If your printer is giving you the results you like, why upgrade?
