Im after some recommendations for a decent ish printer that prints direct to disc (DVD's).

Ive already got a HP B9180 and a laser printer so just need something small that will do direct to disk.

Did a search on here but found mostly older threads with older unavailable printers in.

Anyone got any recommendations? thanks

Canon Pixma iP4850? I us done and an older iP4500 for printing direct discs.

:agree:

I have a Pixma iP4850 too. DVD printing quality is pretty darn good, in fact it's quality in printing up to A4 I find astonishing for the prce.

I use a Canon MP610 which is superb! It's the Multi-function version of the iP4500 engine, but otherwise identical. You could use one of the current crop of Canons, but people still favour these older ones because of the cheap 3rd party inks.

What about this epson http://www.parkcameras.com/21615/Ep...ogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=pid21615.
There might be cheaper versions aswell but I had this one bookmarked myself due to it being wireless and compatible with the iPad printing. Ink cartridges are pretty cheap aswell. I have seen the price on amazon vary between about £130 and £180 so worth keeping an eye on it.

I have the earlier version of this (PX720WD) which I got for £99 in PC World in November. Absolute bargain and can also print from my Android phone.

I would also recommend the Epson PX720WD for printing direct to discs,it also does duplex printing.

John.

Never use third party inks. Always buy genuine Canon from justinkandpaper Great price and service.

I've had an Epson printer and swapped to a Canon iP - never looked back and would certainly recommend one.

Agree with this. I've tried aftermarket inks on an older printer and nothing but trouble. Just buy genuine inks now.

Not wanting to go too far OT, I just bought my first set of third party inks for this printer (I was still on the genuine canon one's it shipped with). I spent a while researching and then I bought some branded 'Peach' ink. I have to say, so far so good. I very satisfied. I hope I don't regret this some way down the road. I would be interested in hearing any specific problem you've had. I've read that people generally have good experiences with Jet Tek and Peach brands. But I'm not doing anything mission critical with this, so I'm happy with the saving, but I'll look into justinkandpaper.

Back on topic - I used to have many Epson CD printers, going right back to a very expensive modified Stylus Colour 600 through to an Stylus Colour Photo 950, and generally found the CD feeding tray and mechanism a bit awkward. Also I had huge problems with nozzles drying out and getting blocked from infrequent use. My experience with the Canon MP610 has been much better however and I'm a definite convert after 15 years of Epsons. Much simpler CD tray, and great results.

Hi

No problem, this was on an Epson printer I used 3rd party inks - good ones as well, and had nothing but trouble with blocked nozzles, dried out (even with fairly regular use) poor quality prints etc. Cost me more in ink trying to clear the blockage than I was saving over genuine inks.

Hence I've not tried any 3rd party on my Canon printer - you know once bitten, twice shy on all that.

Hi, just came across this after posting a Classified ad in the Accessories and Misc section. I'm selling an Epsom R300 with disc printing capability if you are interested?
