I need some advice about a printer. A friend of my daughter has asked if she can recommend a printer and my daughter has asked me.

The friend does not want to spend a lot and has looked at Kodak printers on Amazon which sell from between £10 and £30 and also does not want a printer that is going to cost a fortune in inks.

I think the ink issue is possibly why she looked at Kodak which I recall from some years ago used to make a point of having low ink costs.

However, as Kodak no longer make printers does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap, low ink cost printer? It is for basic printing (no need for an all-in-one printer), with either no or only very occasional photo printing.

Thanks

Dave

Dave, if they do not do a lot of printing have a look at the Dell laser printers.

They will be over budget but not have the same issue of ink drying out as the ink jet ones.

Something like Dell 1160 mono laser printer

This one, you can pickup compatible carts cheap from Amazon and ebay.

Although Kodak no longer sell ink jet printers you can still get the inks for them .

I think though you are going to struggle to get a printer for the price you are looking at

If it's for text, laser all the way. Occasional photos (unless for coursework where it needs to be surrounded by text) then get prints at Asda or wherever is local.

Whatever the friend goes for, I would strongly suggest that if it's for printing photos, stick with genuine inks. Personally, I've found that Canons dry out far slower than Epsons. Buying inks from the likes of 7dayshop can reduce the costs a bit.

Thanks for the replies, all.

Dave
