I have an old photo I printed a while ago to exactly 6x6 cm. I can't remember the resulution or what I did in Photoshop.

When I put in 6x6 cm and a reolution of 72 pdi and display the image on screen at 100% size it is quite a bit smaller than the old photo when I hold it up against the screen.

When I measure the old photo it is exactly 6x6 with a 2mm black border all round. I need the new print to be exactly these dimensions when printed out so I can fit it into a blank card.

I know I should know how to do this but I just can't work it out!

Thanks for the reply Rob. That makes sense that it woudl change with screen size.

Anyone know what dpi I should use for 6x4 prints done at somewhere like Jessops?

You need to think in terms of pixels, not the physical size. What are the dimensions of your photo in pixels?

Most printers work at 300 PPI. So a good-quality 6x4 print requires an image to be 1800 x 1200 pixels.

I actually want it to be 6x6cm but to fit two onto a 6x4 print so I can save on printing costs.

The original TIFF straight out of Lightroom is 2408x2408px at a res of 240 PPI.
When I put in 300 PPI and set the size to 6x6cm it makes it 709x709px. Will this be ok to print?

6 cm is 2.363ins so at 300 DPI you x this and get 708.9 so yes it spot on
BUT do you need then this small as you got 6x4 you have two small on one photo

Thanks Chaz. I am making some photographic cards to try and sell and the blanks that I have have a cut out that is 6x6cm so I need them this size to fit in there. :)
