I did have a look and found no guides, maybe they are hidden or old that I can't find them.

I have looked on a few print sites and they mention about pre sizing photos and I was wondering how you do it.

I had a look at a YouTube video but it only sized to a small 4x6 and I was still a little confused. Is there a basic guide on how to do this, as I was looking at DSCL and it gave pixel dimensions for print sizes but when I adjusted mine it just distorted the photo but I think I did it wrong.

Am I right in thinking you need to crop it first to resize which means you choose the crop rather than letting the printer do it?

Many thanks
Matt

Sorry I use LR3 for most stuff but do have CS5 also.

Regards

In Photoshop CS5 open your photo and click on the crop tool.
In the toolbar you will see blank space for width and height and resolution.

Put in the relevant details as in width 10 in, height 8 in, resolution 300
then just crop to the bits you are happy with and your photograph will be risized to 10x8.

You MUST add the (in) or (cm) or (mm) to the numbers.

Thanks I'll have a go at the tonight.

There was one video I watch which showed you did it be selecting edit > image size then changing it to 300dpi then cropping on to correct ratio then going back into image size and changing the document size.

Will changing it to a 9 x 6 or 10 x 8 by cropping give it the correct pixel dimensions for sending to DSCL? As they give photo size then pixel dimensions and I think I'm just over complicating things and confusing myself.

Thanks

If you follow everything in the tutorial posted above your image should be perfect for printing at DSCL. Is there something in the tutorial you don't understand?
