hi i ordered 3 prints 18 x 12 hopeing to get my pic i was going to trim then down to 13 x 6 but when they arrived they was 18x12 i thought they would be 18x12 paper but 6 x 13 long and the rest white ?

where has this gone wrong ???

who did the printing and did you inform them of whatyour requirements were. usually when ordering prints there would be a comment box for any additional information that you would like to give to the printer. if you have done this then i would suggest calling them up. what did the photo look like in the larger format, had they enlarged it to a good standard so that you would be able to use it.

How do you get 3 6x13 on an 18x12? but if you use DSCL you get a preview option. Did you place all your images on one file as you would like them printed or did you send them as 3 individual files?
Cheers Paul

best to create a new image in photoshop exactly how you want it before you order with the canvas size set to 18x12 then you dont have to worry so much about auto cropping to fit print size for different print house ordering systems.

You ordered 18x12 and got 18x12. Things like photobox auto scale/crop the image to fit the print size your ordering I suspect its this bit that caught you out.

Can you review your original order online.

thanks for your replys

as you can see it has 3 photos in i want to cut along top and botterm to make one mount and then put this in
30Oct2009_36x12.jpg

not sure this is the right size but it needs to be 5 3/4" x 13 "
to fit the mount once trimed

What you need to do is create a white canvas the size of the paper you are printing on then paste the image you want to print on to the white canvas at the dimensions you want it printing. You will then be able to trim it down accordingly.

Like this:

As Rob says, you need to create a canvas size of 18x12 before pasting in your smaller image. So the Printing service sees it as an 18x12 image, although in reality much of the image is plain white. Ido this all the time for 12x10 prints on 18x12 paper.

Or find a print company that does custom sizes ;)
