Most online printers require 300dpi for jpegs submitted. If I want to have some A3 prints done and my camera is only 8mp, will that hurt the final image much and will most companies accept the lower dpi needed?

My advice would be to use software (Genuine Fractals/Lightroom/Photoshop bicubic smoother in order of preference) to upscale the image to the specs needed by the printer.

Or even better speak to the printers and see what they say ;)
