Are there any experts in the field of Windows printing problems? I cannot get my PC to print anything except the odd test page.

It's a desktop PC running Win7 and a Canon mp620. Connected via USB.
In any program , if I try to print, nothing happens and the program freezes and I have to use TaskManager to end the process.
I plugged the printer into the laptop and that's fine, so nowt wrong with printer.
I know the print spooler is running and I have run various printer test and diagnosis programs but everything all way come up with "No problem found" or the like.
I've run extra anti malware programs [Malware bytes, spybot, CCleaner, MS Security Essentials etc.] and there is no infection.

I deleted the device and all programs/files etc to do with it, then ran an uninstaller program so there was no trace left and ran a registry fix program to make sure that was OK.
Then I downloaded the most up-to-date printer drivers...
That didn't work.

On Friday I decided to run the Win7 install disk and repair any corrupted/missing files. It lasted for hours until rebooting! "Ha-ha, that'll cure it", I thought...
That didn't work.

If I go to Devices and Printers in control, sometimes it shows the devices and printers sometimes it doesn't.
If my MP620 shows and I right click sometimes it freeze the program and sometimes I can get into properties and even print a test page!
The printer scans fine and sends results to the PC.

I thought the prob might have been triggered by a critical windows up-date but surely the Win7 repairing should sort that out.
Any help will be great as I'm loosing heart in my IT skills [such as they are!:)]
