I really like the look of the products that DSCL have on offer, but the only reviews I can find that have been done this year are all negative: bad quality, slow, no contact ...so hoping for recommendations please!

Ideally I hope to be offering acrylic panels, canvas and box frames

Really surprised to hear this I have always found DSCL to be excellent and by far the majority of reviews on this forum have been positive.

Have used DSCL at least a dozen times this year already and can't fault them (as ever). Certainly never had bad quality or slowness. Have had only had to contact them twice, first time by email I didnt get a response so phoned them and they were very helpful (this was probably 18 months ago, however).

So worth giving a shot over others mentioned above? Have you tried other labs?

Similar to me. Use at least once a month, and delivery and quality always spot on. Only issue was a couple of years ago but sorted very easily. Loxley are very good too.

I tried DSCl in Feb and they were awful...very poor quality images and products....I was recommended The Print Foundry by a friend and so tried them in April with a canvas and a acrylic and I have to say both were perfect and exceptional quality. I have since used them twice more and I am very happy. They are very helpful on the phone and turnaround has been very good, but its the quality of the finish and materials that they use which I love..I will not be using anyone else in the short term...

I've made a number of orders from DSCL this year and they've been brilliant. Definitely not slow. My last order was Friday and it was sent on Saturday, it's probably already arrived by now.

I have also use Loxley for my prints, who were okish, but I felt that I was not that important to them as a small customer! Maybe they are too big and as everyone suggests its better to work with the smaller guys for quality and service....

I think I'm going to make a move over to Loxley from DSCL now. I've had a few dodgy batches this year from DSCL. White edges down the sides of my 10x8's (they've been done the same way I always do!) I had a batch of 8x6's on a different paper to the rest of my order and the blacks weren't black on them as you could see through the paper as it was that thin. They screwed up a couple of keyrings I had done for friends too.

I agree that they probably would have put them right if I called them and told them. But my time means more to me and I cba to go round chasing issues from suppliers, I shouldn't have to. So time for me to go elsewhere now I think. :)

Before my last order I would have been 100% singing the praises of DSCL but my last prints were cropped too tightly, despite the photo being from a file that I've been sending them for the last 5 years with no issues. To be fair I had several responses and they sent out replacement prints in two separate mailings..the first a "check print" which was perfectly fine and then the remaining replacements, printed from the same image, they were all cropped incorrectly:shrug:

The last communication I had was from the managing director suggesting that my pixel ratio was incorrect and probably causing the problem:bonk:

I'm still sticking with them as they have been excellent in the past...I'll see how my next order works out before I change my mind

Simon

I will always stay loyal to good suppliers, but I have always been advised to look to try others, and especially if they have been recommended within our industry. Its always worth having backup and especially if the regular guys you use let you down, and its also helpful if you just need to comp pricing to ensure that your competitive at all times....K

Ok, think ive been convinced to try Loxley instead! Going to cost me a fortune in samples ...so many nice shiny options!!

If you are specifically after Acrylics and Canvas, then I would recommend maybe trialling The Print Foundry, as their Acrylics are great and I am sure that they have an offer on Canvas at the moment also...I have not ordered Box frames from them, but would assume that they are also good value..I also got a 40% discount on my studio sample that I ordered....which may be of help to your budget...good luck...K
