Anyone remember Print Exchange, well I'm back from carer duties and we are going again
For those who haven't previously taken part below is a brief explanation

Basically its along the lines of an anonymous Secret Santa type thing, so just one print to send/receive
A4 size for ease and cost of postage, fit nicely in one of the cardboard backed envelopes at large letter price.
Its nice to receive a random print, possibly to your taste or maybe not, luck of the draw
I will collate and send out the names sent to me by PM, sender solely responsible for print and postage costs obviously.
Print at home or get printed, colour or b&w, its your choice, just send something you would also be pleased to receive.

Only restriction is No NSFW content, Thank you

1. Between now and Monday 10th February Please PM me with your forum name, real name and address.

2. By Thursday 13th February, I will send a PM out to all those taking part with details of the person whom they need to send their print to.

3. Post your print to your named recipient by Tuesday March 13th

I am up for this. But would you guys be ok posting to India?
Just looked and for a large letter to India its £3.50.
That's fine with me, but lets see how others feel.

I'd be up for this - maybe as a suggestion, rather than send a single print out, why don't we send two prints out, so everybody sends two and receives two.
Personally like the simple one A4 print sent and received, but again lets see what others say.

I'm up for this too if sending to Germany is OK which I suppose should be ...

Yes please,

Thanks for this initiative!

so how does it work ? I am looking forward for any real exchange to happen. Should I follow an original post in here ? I am in for the first time, excuse me my stupid question ... So dates are Feb 10th for a PM to @tijuana taxi and sending print latest at March 13th ? A4 is a recommended size or required size ? I'd love to send a bit bigger .. Print choice is up to me ?

edit: isn't it possible to add there an option with a genre preference ... I'd love to get a landscape photography for example and I will give landscape myself ...

Those dates you quoted are from the previous print exchange 3 although they do seem to be about right so will go with them again
Its an A4 print totally random subject and anonymous.
Lets just leave it like that to make it what it was always intended to be, simple cheap fun.

I can email a photo to whom I like a lot quicker than this. The person receiving can then hard copy of the photo sent. So I can't see the point of this. I could sent a print direct to someone anonymously without going through a third party. Better still they may not even be a member here

So I can't see the point of this. I could say a lot more but site rules prevent me, I have a suspicouis nature
Then please do not tag along ... it's absolutely voluntary ... if you wanted to play football, for example, you would play with like-minded players following a common rules and you're certainly not telling them that you don't like rules because you cannot play with your hands ... This exchange is kind of game where everybody follows same rules so stating that the game is broken because you don't like rules is ... well, just meh ... just don't play - it's as simple as that

There more to photography then just clicking a button and storing a digital image. If you don’t see the point or know nothing about the art of producing a great print please move on.

One thing to bear in mind if the recipient is in EU and the poster is not the EU person may well get a bill from the Post for delivery of the item, this can be circa 11- 15 € described as a 'handling charge' we have been hit with that in France a couple of times for post from UK even though all customes charges are paid and the cert on the envelope clearly shows that

There shouldn’t be any customs charges for an A4 sized letter with no value.

In again. No problems posting abroad.

I have taken part in this before - can't this time but will bear in mind that it is back. Speed is not the point - I enjoyed the anticipation and then the moment that reminds me of getting my photos back from the developers. and why the snarky "better still " remark - this spreads a little joy. Try it... you might get some in return.

Don't bother then, in fact glad you're not with such a crappy attitude.

It occurs that I might be confusing the number of people to send a print to. As I see it is only one, I have just printed one. So, if it is not too late, I will join in.

Just the one to send and receive Linda.
Pop your details over to me by PM and i'll send your recipients details in due course

Last call, anyone else interested

Details to me by tomorrow please for anyone who hasn't yet sent them

Thanks

I would still vote for a next round next year that participants will be tagging also a genre because guys, if you'll bloody send me some beautiful nude for example, I could have a big problem home :D

I think a "No NSFW" to the whole exchange would probably be a good idea and less of a headache to manage than it probably already is.

I totally agree, so No Not Safe For Work it is then.
Thanks Ian.
Never previously been an issue, but better safe than sorry.

had a few testers printed at DSCL,

What is a good viewing distance for A4?

I cant tell whether they are good or bad without the 400% zoom. :naughty:

Magazine reading distance I'd say for the purposes of evaluation. 30-40cm?
