Yes
I don't particularly want to have to do this, but it's an option I must consider.

Seeing as I am currently off work sick with Depression (and only on SSP) and my job due to finish in a week anyway I am somewhat concerned about my finances until I find another job.

Since my camera kit gets so little use anyway I am thinking of selling up (with a view to upgrading to a 30D when I get a new job)

Could any of you nice, kind and ever so knowledgeable folk help with prices on the following please:

Canon EOS 350D

BG-E3 Battery Grip containing:
  • Canon NB-2LH 740 mAh battery
  • NB-2L 650 mAh battery

Canon RS-60E3 Remote Switch

Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS USM f/4.0-5.6
  • Canon EW 73B Lens Hood
  • 67mm Hoya HMC UV filter
  • 67mm Hoya Circular Polarising Filter

Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM f/4.0-5.6
  • Canon ET 65B Lens Hood
  • 58mm Hoya Super HMC Pro1 multicoated UV filter
  • 58mm Hoya Circular Polarising Filter

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 mkII
  • 52mm Orange filter
  • 52mm Warmtone filter
  • 52mm Diffuser
  • 52mm Cross screen filter

Manfrotto MN614B Tripod with Manfrotto carry bag
Manfrotto 484RC2 Tripod Head
Hama Trackpack Backpack
Tamrac 5674 Shoulder Bag

Hama Blower
Talk Photography Lens Pen
Sigma Lens cloth
hot shoe mountable dual spirit level
2Gb Sandisk Ultra II CF card
2Gb Dane Elec XS CF card
1 x 512mb Dane Elec CF card
2 x 256mb CF cards

If you are thinking of upgrading to a 30D wont you need most of these things?

eventually, yes but at the moment my mortage and bills need paying.

Selling my camera gear is a last resort, but something I have to consider

Sorry to hear this mate, but I can fully understand your position (with the job, depression, SSP/sickness, and having to sell), as I've been there before.

As for the prices, I sold the following in July.

350, grip, 18-55, 2 x 256mb cards, 3rd party remote, Canon battery and 3rd party battery.....for £480.

Now this was before the announcement or indeed the release of the 400D, which will no doubt have had a bearing on the price.

I think you may be able to get more by offering them separately. The 50mm also still holds its value.

BTW, expect a PM coming your way from me, I have an idea :)

Braeden - so sorry to hear of your predicament, and hope you can get something sorted and not have to resport to selling your gear. I don't suppose there is any way you can get the camera working for you is there? Even if just in the short term, to help out with paying bills and earn its keep?

Thanks guys

Marcel I will reply to your PM when Hannah has gone to bed and I get some free time :)

Witch - I would dearly love to have the talent to make the camera work for me and earn me some cash, unfortunately I don't :)

The upgrade isn't really needed, it's just that when I'm solvent I will want to replace the camera and may as well get the 30D (or equivalent at the time I manage to get solvent again) instead of a lower model. Ideally I would like to go for the 5D but I don't see myself being quite that solvent for some time :)

Fingers crossed things work out mate! I aggree with maybe breaking down the items to single sales, if you look on ebay the 50mm still goes for around £50 and above. HTH.

Braeden, I'm sorry to hear about your predicament mate. I've had to sell top end gear on more than one occasion in the past to pay the mortgage so I know how it is. Try to hang onto the gear if you can, but remember - what goes around comes around. (pathetic philosophical bit) ;)

Yep I've been there, and not that long ago. Hope things get better for you soon.

Update to this, today I received a job offer which I have accepted - so my camera gear is safe :D   :woot:

Its less hours, more convenient and more money than my current role as well! :D

That's great news Braeden, I'm really pleased for you mate

Mike

Brilliant news, Braeden. I am so happy for you..... fantastic. :woot:  :D

Good news :)

Congratulations on the job

Thanks guys

Another bit of good news is that the Tax credit office has finally sorted out their error and have sent us a cheque for the money they owe us

That will almost cover my lost money for the period I was on SSP so I don't need to sell my PC any more either :D

Congrats on the turn around. I was interested in the PC but it was more than I wanted so glad it's worked out for you :)

Really chuffed for you Braeden - so glad things have worked out.

She's doing fine :)

She's into absolutely everything now and has worked out that she can get upstairs unaided as well which was scary to look up and see your 10 month old in the mirror, half way up the stairs.

2 safety gates later and she is safely contained again :)

 Until she figures out the next thing. I read yesterday of one mum who frantically couldnt find her son. He'd only managed to climb onto the windowsill and stand behind the curtain for ages...giggling...lol Little swines :D

They are great though arent they? Our son (now just over 2) is a challenge sometimes. Found him trying to sweep the couch the other day because he'd dropped a few crumbs :D Bless...lol
