I thought I would give it a chance and popped into Jessops at shandwick place in Edinburgh to see if they would price match Jacobs at £2754, which was the cheapest offer I could find.

The manager was very fair and looked at the offers available in the local area, he eventually phoned his area manager to get authorisation for the price match as there is no are Jacobs in Scotland.

We got a deal and I went home a happy man with a D700 in hand, still waiting on the 24-70 as there is a nationwide shortage at the moment.

Very happy with the service I got and there willingness to try and price match, Plus I have a Nikon d700 its all good.........:clap:

Congratulations on the new toys.

Both, D700 & 24-70 are sexy bit of kit to have in hand.

Also, good to hear some +ve feedback on Jessops. Pitty that they don't always get that sort of post about them.

Good on you Richard... ... and kudos to your Jessops manager too... ;)

Now you just got to get to enjoy the new toy... :D

I've had good service from jessops twice since December.

They price matched with Jacobs on a 70-200 VR and they found me a siggy 24-70 EX DG Macro at a good price and held it for me.

Currently on holiday in New Zealand with only the D700 and 24-70 and they are a dream combination :)

There's a D700 + 24-120 in the sale at Jessops in Glasgow, as far as I could tell it was brand new, but with a fair chunk off the price.....

Great kit and a great deal. I've always found the staff and management at the Shandwick Place shop really good. The manager at the Fort is less than charming unfortunately. Shandwick place is great, because of the catastrophe of the tramworks, I don't take the car, and usually enjoy a few cask-conditioned pints in Mather's and the Oxford Bar after a visit to the shop!

went to Edinburgh to visit a while back and went into the Jessops store for a quick look, the people there were very friendly and seemed keen to help. unlike all the other ones in England :( i got it down to the highland air

I went into my local Jessops today to enquire about a Nikon D700 body they were very helpful but when it came to me asking for a price match they was'nt having none of it.So i left came home and ordered 1 from Mifsuds for £120 less, to be delivered Tuesday!! i would have prefered to shop locally but if they don't want a sale with less profit margin against a no sale i can see why they may be in financial difficulties:shrug:
Looking forward to Tuesday already:D

It was the same experience for me.

It did take some banter to instigate a price match, however the manager was fair he passed it up the chain and spoke with his boss......Job done.

Some managers may have better sales skills than others!!

You guys need to make these things aware to Jessops head office, that's the only way Jessops are going to change.

Just to bring this thread back..Im interested in the d700, Jessops have it for £1799 at the moment, has anyone tried the Jessops store in Belfast for price match? (Jacobs have it at £1749 at the moment) Anyone time ive been in theyve been useless altogether so my hopes aren't all that high on this.
