Just picked this up on Twitter from the Cameraferret stream...

'Just noticed a nice price drop on the Canon EOS 600D 18-55 IS Lens Kit. We have the cheapest at £549.99'

I checked this out and the price is without postage which pushes it up to £556 but it is still a hefty £25 drop I reckon. The list showed Amazon has dropped today too to £553! Nice drop if you need a full kit!

I do like this website although it could do with a search option!

Cheers, quite like camera price buster - always good to have alternatives though.

Add in the £50 cashback makes it £503 from Amazon if bought before June 5th. I wonder if the price will fall again or will Amazon hike it up again as they usually do.

Also Argos has dropped the price to £553 for the next few days, so take off £50 cashback and Quidco or Topcashback and add in a £10 Argos gift voucher, works out a better deal than Amazon at the moment.

I've never heard of Quidco etc!...lol. Just had a look though, looks interesting... passed it on to the mrs, she shops now I can save!

Not sure I'd buy something like a camera from Argos though, just doesn't sound right. I've had stuff from them which has been opened and resealed, the stuff looks new but in my head someone has bought it, opened it and taken it back for whatever reason and that makes it feel dirty and so I can never love it as if it were untouched... :) I'm sure it's fine though, it's just my perception of Argos goods from experience.

Agreed about Argos, I've never had much luck with small electricals never mind more expensive ones. I would be more tempted to use the Argos price to get a price match at say John Lewis etc. But wait John Lewis went out of stock of the 550D, 600D and 60D the same time as the Argos offer started.....how erm convenient !

A user on another site has bought the 600D from argos online and is waiting for confirmation from TCB of the order expected to be £22 paid back, Quidco only pays about £8 for Argos.

No doubt prices will all change again next week when the Argos offer, the Canon cashback and TCB improved rate all end, and John Lewis will have full stocks again.

Ha... Cameraferret dude must have heard me complain... there's a search bar on there today... It seems I finally have some influence in this world!

Now what shall I ask him for next?...mmm

That would be a bargain if tcb allow you to keep the full £22 if your a new user. I remember with quidco my first £5 was not credited to me.

George... I found this thread yesterday evening while googling cameraferret.com to see how far we had spread across the net. I saw your comment regarding a search option and although it was in the pipeline I put one in today just for you ( I also saw you had mentioned us on other threads in this forum so I wanted to say thanks... we need all the help we can get at the moment while we are new to the scene! ).

On a side note I have added flashcamera (Kerso) to our listings which I picked up on here last week. So tomorrow you should be able to see how his prices compare to others (I have looked already and he is extremely competitive so I had to add him).

So keep up the good work mentioning us when you can and thanks again...

Paul (The Ferret Master)...

(I should add the search option will be live again tomorrow too... I am doing some final tweaks to it as we speak)

Quick update - Kerso's prices are going live now (as is the search option)

If only it was possible to test a camera from Argos, then return it if you don't like it.

On certain items including cameras they have the NOTE

This item is excluded from the 30 day money back guarantee. See the Additional Information panel for full details. This does not affect your statutory rights.

I went out on Friday with the intention of buying a 600D that I had reserved at Argos. When I got to the checkout I asked the girl what happens if something goes wrong in the first 12 months.....a blank look came over her face, then she said I'll just check. When she came back she said just bring it back and someone will decide then what needs to happen, I asked do you have a qualified person here to make that decision ? she replied.....Well no it's down to the manager or whoever is on at the time.

At this point I said I am not prepared to take the risk with whoever is on and left without buying it. Around 10 mins later I bought one from Currys where I was served by someone who actually knew about the product he was selling + he price matched Argos.

I would certainly buy a camera from Comet, I have bought many things from them over the years. On the few times I had to return items for any reason I got a full cash refund.

Plus you can try them out as they have them out on show, they power them up and let you have a good try of them. In Argos it's the norm to have to wait for the camera to come from store room via a conveyor belt. Item is sealed up so you can't even have a feel of the camera.

The Sales Of Goods Act trumps any such note that Argos stick on things.

bought 2 of these for a project I work with, so thanks for pointing this out and truley impressed with the results when teamed up with my lenses

If you buy and take it back because you don't like it the retailer is under no obligation to refund your money

Different if its faulty and that is exactly what Argos allude to when mentioning statutory rights
