One of my mates at work plays for a football team who will be playing a match at Deepdale on friday afternoon. Kick-off is at 5pm. He asked me if I fancied going along as a photographer because they want a record of what is potentially a once in a lifetime game. Unfortunately I'm not available to do it.

I have e-mailed Kipax to ask if he's available but in the mean time I thought I'd ask if there is anyone else who would potentially like to do it.

I must stress though that they are on a limited budget but I'm sure they will stretch to some kind of payment.

They are after some team shots before or after the game then coverage of the full 90 minutes of the match. I'd assume you'd be needed from around 4:30pm til about 7:00pm.

All I'd ask is that you only put your name forward if you are capable of doing a decent job of this. I'm not expecting a full-time professional (unless Kipax replies with a suitable offer) but a suitable camera and lens combo and an idea of how to shoot football would be required.

Please post any interest in this thread or PM me and I'll pass your details on to the team.

Ahem..... I think I know someone keen on the chance to advance in this field :whistling:

Im looking to invest alot of money in some new gear to try and get into sports photography more professionally. Ive taking pics of my local team now over the past year or two and looking to advance with better gear.

Im investing in a Canon 1d mkiv, Canon 400mm F2.8, Canon 70-200mm F2.8 and a 24-780mm F2.8.

Just looking for a bit of advice off people who are already doing this kind of photography and how they got in with agencies or media.

All help will be appreciated and thanks in advance. Paul

Hasn't this guy taken enough stick for an innocent enquiry?

Im sure you will get used to my humour - if not, you can just shake your head and tut

Gentle banter is a far cry from giving the guy stick, he opened with a big question and seemed to fade when the reality hit home. If I offended you with my quirkiness, try not to read too many of my posts, depending on my mood, they can be littered with them

No offence taken. Nice to see Stoconians have kept their sense of humour...having gone up there to see County's last two games in the league for a while that's going to be in short supply.

Haha Colin, we're Stopfordians by the way ;) - and presume you're talking about the football, of which I have no interest or idea about. Only thing I know is that Stockport have/held a record for the smallest crowd  Glad to see you picked a bit of the humour up and took some home with you ;)

It did get sorted but not by me. I recommended 2 very proficient photographers that would have been good value but they ended up booking someone for more than twice the price with no sports photography experience. Bloody typical.

Hope all goes well at Accy Tony.

Thanks Phil!!!! Your a funny man. But I asked for a bit of advice. Not a slating. I did buy the gear after. Did swap a 400mm for a 300mm due to weight.

Your welcome

However, due to the post that you started, it was wide open for bit of amusement. If you're going to take offence at this small jibe, heaven help you in the real world of professional sports photography

Phil.

Well, if is Preston in Melbourne, I could do it, but Preston UK.... Not so sure ;) I have no idea where Preston is in the UK either...,

How are you getting with your new gear so far? I probably would have stayed with the 400, they are heavy, but using a monopod makes it easy-er.... Did you also buy the mkIV?

Yeah did get the mark iv after. Been trying it out only down by my local river but really impressed so far. Theres a bit of wildlife about. From the lenses I was using to these now theres hell of a difference. Overall im chuffed to bits. Hopefully get to use in about 3 weeks for a local motorcycle racing.

Good move mate, well done!! I was tempted to move to Nikon before getting mine, but so very glad I didn't....

Yeah its outstanding fair play. All I want now is some weather for some cricket or something to be on to give her a whirl tidy.

What sort of stuff you shoot Assassin???
