Press officers

I've just applied for my pass to a coming event, and it turns out the Press Officer is also a photographer. It seems a little odd as I'd have thought there could be a conflict of interests, especially as he'll be submitting to the same magazines as me.
Or is this common practice?

common practice.. most press officers especialy at smaller organisations are photographers.. cant see a conflict of intrest either to be honest.. if both sending to mags then he/she has no advantage on the day

well yes (although I doubt anyone would do that) but i didnt know you where refering to such extremes... i thought you where just generalising.
