Anyone watching the last televised one tonight? Should be interesting. McCain has a lot riding on this and it's a chance to put another foot into McCain for Obama.
 
This is a country that elected GWB, i'm afraid I cannot get excited about a US election.
 
I'll be watching, but tbh neither candidate inspires any confidence. No matter who wins this election it's not going to be good.
 
The way I see it is, you'll only know that after the winner has been given a chance to show what they can do. A bad leader for the US is going to be bad for the Western world as a whole, and probably some parts of the East. I'm amazed that there are still some people that see this as irrelevant or not worthy of attention.
 
It's Obama time for America.

The people who truly run things If they are real have picked Obama.

Obama's winning the popularity contest which Is what US politics basically are.

Would be great entertaining If McCain won and died while In office leaving Palin In charge of the US, there would be anarchy and riots!:D
 
Based on what I've seen, I think Obama will win. There's a variety of reasons. I've watched the three debates so far live. The two Presidential debates and the VP debate and both left me in no doubt who is more focused, more organised and more informed.

Obama has delivered his speeches, his proposals and his ideas articulately. He's focused on the middle classes and readdressing the issues raised by the current administration. He's also not run his campaign on negative issues and by that I mean attempting to discredit the character of McCain. McCain on the other hand has stumbled and stuttered his way through the two televised debates and probably will again tonight, and I can guarantee he'll be out to get Obama's character, again.

I also think that, regardless of McCain's maverick properties, he's still a Republican, and in America that's going to be a problem given what's gone on over the past 7 and a half years. He's also focused on Obama's character, running adverts about Obama's past and acquaintances. They've tried to belittle his role as a community organiser... possibly one of the most important roles in terms of youth development and community/grass roots regeneration. If you can't take the future seriously at a working class level, then how can you take your country's future seriously at a Presidential level.

I could go on all night. I'm really excited about the election this year. I find the whole process intriguing.
 
I think perhaps it's Obama time, and he might even survive the job now.

Colin Powell said he wouldn't stand as a black president as he'd kind of like to live!
 
Being a republican Is never a problem In America, they love greed and right wingers.

Obama's centre right so they won;t miss anything.
 
Obama was being touted as a future president way back in 2003/4 by some savvy political pundits in the US. I doubt there's any real contest to be honest.

The real question is whether he will be a 1 or 2 term president, and that will ultimately depend on if he delivers his vision.
 
I think it looks as if Obama will win, however I wonder if many (mainly white) people who are voicing their support for him will have a change of heart just before they cast their vote.

Obama reminds me of the fresh-faced Tony Blair who promised so much and delivered so little.

Last night there were promises of tax cuts, rebates,better health care and a whole raft of other expensive policies, but no real details of where all this money was to come from, except an increase in taxes on the big corporations, who will simply pass that onto consumers as higher prices.

I think if Obama does win we'll see a fairly rapid volte-face on many of these promises.

It's ironic that much of Obama's style is based on Martin Luther King and JFK as there is (as CT points out above) a fair chance he'll end up meeting the same fate that they did....

Absolutely Flash. I think it has almost as much bearing on our economy, and lives in general, as it does our own general elections.
