Hi i have a video i want to put on to yiu tube, at 18 minutes long it says it is too long to upload from elements. I have tried uploading straight from yotube but it doesnt recognize the file. How do i convert it to upload ?

Put your file on the timeline then export it as an mp4 or some other file type

Is there much difference in the file formats?

File formats - not really, depends on how much other data you want stored..

The actual video and audio encoding formats stored within the file - A huge difference, as you'd expect when discussing say MPEG2 which is nearly 20 years old and H.265 which is 6 months old. Technology has progressed at a rapid pace.

Thanks, will have a read. Surprising how long an 18 minute video takes to upload to you tube!

18 mins is nigh on 1000 seconds.

So if you've encoded it at Youtube recommended bitrates of 8 Mbps you'll have an 8 Gb file.

On a low end ADSL connection that manages on average 512Mbps you'd be looking at 16 times longer than real time.

Thanks, this is all new to me so plenty of learnjng curve.

It uploaded to play at 480p and not any higher, so i must have not selected an hd format.

Give Youtube a bit of time to process the video and check again.
