A woman who lives nearby has recently found out she is pregnant and has asked me to do a 'pregnancy set' for her.

I've never done anything like this before (feels quite intimidating actually! I always just took photographs for fun now people are expecting things!!! :help: ) so I would appreciate any advice anyone may have?

I was thinking of taking 9 B&W side-on shots, one a month, to show the progression of the bump. Maybe then trying to put them all onto a 3x3 square or something? Also I don't know if I should show the mother's face or either crop it out or hide it with her hair, so that all the attention is centred on her belly, and not on her?

Any opinions or ideas?

Its a tricky one, how well do you know the lady? A lot of woman are going for partially nude artistic shots when they are pregnant, hands holding belly, full body and just the bump, just have a google and you will see loads! Have you asked her what exactly she is after?

Its all going to be nearly studio work with good lighting so that the set looks arty and not like a biology ilustration if you know what I mean lol.

I know her around 20 years or so, we've been close friends since school - and her fella is the same. I've actually got a feeling they'll ask to try partially nude shots to see how they turn out, although I haven't spoken to her properly yet so I'm not too sure. I think she's kinda leaving it up to me at the minute, see what I think.

Must google some ideas alright...

I think the most important thing to do is talk to both her and him to find out what sort of thing they want - it is a very emotional and important time in anyone's life and will require a lot of sensitivity on your behalf !
As a dad, I remember feeling left out at times, so maybe some sort of picture to show his involvement, maybe even his feeling left out in some way... I certainly think it will push you (or anyone else) in order to tell the story - good luck !
