Yes
ive bought my latest issue of practical photography magazine and noticed that they have threw in three lee colour gels in a plastic case, so i'd thought i would give a heads up for anyone interested. i haven't tried them properly but if there really good i will be buying some of the proper packs.

oh and also in the mag theres a brilliant feature of flower photography and a small section on using the colour gels.

:)

Hey i've just bought my mine today, those coloured gels will come in useful, already got plans for using them.

the flower article is provides some good techniques, especially the homemade light tent, not bad

Saw the mag on the shelf yesterday when i was browsing some others, it worth a buy for the gels? Never read that mag either, might actually get a copy.

well it was a deal maker for me defo, however my main interest was in the flower photo techniques but because i wanted some gels for my flash aswell it was an easy win/win situation for me.

Think I will pick it up then. Always reluctant to buy paper magazines these days since everything is available for free on the internet! The gifts are worth it occasionally though for sure.

There for putting over your glasses when the sun comes out this summer, are they not?

I have it - my wife bought me the subscription.

Not used them yet though.

I now read Practical Photography now that Photography Monthly went in a totally different direction recently.

Nothing a proper, paper based, magazine for reading on the train.

Excellent - what colours?

Are they colour correction gels (e.g. CTO, full green etc), or hollywood bold gels (e.g. flame red, deep blue etc).

Can never have too many gels. I'll try and pick up a mag tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up

Steve

red, blue, amber. they are special effect filters however the amber one can be used as a colour correction.

Thanks Luke

Good enough. Unusual to have a freebie so useful. Perhaps the start of a trend.

I got them as I took out a 6 month sub to the mag so I could take part in the DSLR Photoskills Course - not had a chance to try using them yet night have a go this evening as am thinking I might have a go at my homework assignment.

I really like the magazine in fact it's probably one of the better ones that I've read :)

yes i agree its a brilliant magazine and its the most informative, especially the giveaways like the lee gels, i contemplated purchasing digital photo (PP's sister) because its cameracraft pull outs seem quite interesting.

I picked this up on thursday after seeing it at my sisters house earlier on in the evening - came in handy as I had just recieved my flash on Thursday too! Not used the gels properly yet though.

Does anyone know if there is a better way to store the gels than the plastic pouch and tracing paper they came with?

Thanks for the heads up, will check it out.
Dave

I didnt get any with mine :( Or do you have to send off for them?

Oh ignore that, I had not looked in the bag they were posted with!

Picked up the mag and filters during the weekly shopping trip...Thanks
