Yes
Having ignored the huge numbers of robot phone calls about making a claim I am now starting to wonder if it might make sense to look into this, just in case..
So, anyone got any advice or experience?

I've got no idea...!
I'm not the most organized person but have had many loans and hp deals over the years so figure it may be worth looking into.

The main thing is NOT to use one of the leech like "ppi claim firms" as they will steal 30% of your claim simply for completing a simple form

I have a similar issue, I have a profound hatred of ambulance chasers, but I do have some industrial deafness and tinnitus.

I really ought to sort out a claim, but as above, I really don't want to deal with anyone who wants to 'help' me

But surely this means you need to know who you want to claim against ?
I have only ever banked with NatWest but have had HP from various companies over the years but have no idea who, and no paperwork.
Is this part of what the claim firms do in order to justify their fee's ?

The wife and I made claims last year. We wrote to every bank and credit vard company we've ever used and asked for details of any loans/contracts we had with them. Once the information came back (about 4 weeks in all) we simply looked through to see which ones included PPI and made a claim against them. They send a form and we just put "don't know" or "don't remember" in the various boxes.

We ended up about £12k better off between us. NatWest even paid us both separately for the same joint loan :)

Couldn't be simpler if your prepared to put in a little time and effort.

Many thanks for all the replies - I'll make a start by getting in touch with my bank once I've looked into what the moneysavingexpert has to say..!

I am rather disappointed I haven't taken out any loans in the past few years...

Just phone the bank etc and ask - they will look into if you have had any PPi on your loan, credit card etc and then you can discuss with them "if you were mis sold it" and go from there.

What I would say is do not go with one of these firms as if successful, they'll charge you around 25-35% of your payout...just do it yourself.

As above, money saving expert.
Personally, I received £18000 back from various loans etc
