Anyone had any experience with power packs for flashguns such as Godox etc ?
I have a Metz 58AF2 and want to get a power pack so if anyone can offer any advice it would be much appreciated !

When I had a canon 580 ex2 I used a CP-4 battery pack and loved what it did for recycling times so am hoping for something that does the same sort of thing.

I've not used the Godox or similar, but I believe they're very good.

Maybe overkill for a speedlite when those little AA-powered jobbies seem to work well and cheap?

Thanks for the reply Richard - they may be overkill in some ways but I cannot find a AA battery pack to fit a Metz, and the Godox packs are not amazingly expensive compared to what my old CP-4 cost..

Having you say that Godox are thought to be good carries some weight for me, so I might take a punt on one.

Before I do, anyone else got any thoughts ?

Overkill possibly in two ways. Maybe more than you need, and may well be able to drive the flash harder than is good for it. Speedlites are not good if you hammer them - fast shooting at full power, or a lot of high speed sync work. Some have thermal cut-outs (don't know about your Metz) while others just melt with terminal injuries...
