Microfibre cloth with a few drops of my special cleaning fluid, made by mixing water and propan-2-ol 50:50. The propanol costs a fiver for 500ml. The resulting solution is just about identical to more expensive cleaning products.

As per the old proverb "many a true word spoken in jest"
1. I keep a filter on, always have in my 50 years, easier to clean a filter than a front element.
2. Take a tip from old photo journalists.
Carry some toilet roll, roll a piece into a tight sausage length the TEAR NOT cut it across the half way, it is now soft with many fine fibers, just like a lens brush.
