Pound land wants 99p stores.

Poundland seeks to buy out 99p store chain.

I wonder if £1 land will drop there prices o_O

News

They have officially announced that should the sale go ahead all sites will become poundland.......with some 99p promotions in-store.....:D

Last time I went to £1 land I needed change and they didn't have any £1 coins. I thought that was pretty bizarre, so not been back since lol. I'm not joking either, it was like when I went to Pizza Hut as a kid in Aberdeen and they told me they'd run out of cheese.

I had a similar experience in a pub in Ireland.....they ran out of proper Guinness (not the tripe they sell in England:D)....but then again we had just won the six nations and beat England all in the same day...........

Lol that probably happens everyday anyway.

Last year a 99p store opened up opposite Poundland. Poundland responded by reducing their prices to 94p. There was a mini, good natured price war for a while.

As a regular 99p store customer I fear price increases....

Perhaps there could be a compromise if the Bank of England could be persuaded to reintroduce the 1/2p coin.

You do know that for I think the last 7/8 years the Guinness sold in the UK is brewed in Dublin rather than the UK since the Park Royal Brewery closed down...

I am good with the move and am happy to stay with the chain, I mean in for a penny in for a pound I always say!

If you are bored its always good to wander into a pound shop, and ask "How much is this, as I can't see price on it"

I guess like a lot of "fine wine" it doesn't travel well?
(I can't stand the stuff myself)

Probably more to do with the establishment it's being served in, if you don't look after your pipes and pour it correctly your going to have trouble...my bar black stuff was perfect, I had a lot of paddy customers and they all said how good mine was, as did my BQT from Guiness

The only beer that doesn't really travel well is live beers

All very true.....all brewed in Ireland these days......but alas I believe it doesn't travel well......and then when you add a numb skull bar person into the equation then you have s*** Guinness.......I was in Newcastle for nine months and when I went to watch the falcons play I was amazed at how many bar staff filled it to the top and then the punters drinking it before it settles......I actually showed a bar man how to pour it and the bat manager offered me a job:D....I actually did accept the job on a once a week basis for a couple of months and all I done was pour Guinness .....one for them and one for me.....;)

I liked Dara O'Briain's comment on pouring Guiness. Something like "there has to be 9/16" of head and if anyone draws a shamrock in it, you can poke them in the eye with a stick".

Do Guinness still inspect cellars to check for cleanliness and temperature? They used to when I was a cellarman - un announced drop ins at random. They used to check the pipes too. Not sure if I could still do it but used to be able to pour 2 1/2 pint bottles of it into a pint glass at the same time.
