Welcome to Round 1 of the TP : Photographer of the Year 2006.

This years competition will be a shorter than usual one (as there's only a few months of the year left).
The competition rules are here.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please use this thread to discuss the competition, and specifically the current round, and your interpretation of it. Also feel free to discuss ideas and thoughts etc. :) While there is an anonymous nature to the submissions and voting, there's no need to be secretive about ideas and the like. While we'd all like to win :D...the competition is for all of us to help improve our photography :)

So, on with this months theme, which is Outside.
The cut off for submissions to be received is 23:59 on the 31st August 2006.

Hmmm half way throught and not come up with anything yet :( in need of inspiration :thinking:
 
i would hope that you can come up with something sue! just open the door and see whats out there!
 
Hopefully I'll be able to give this a bash... inbetween work and a total lack of inspiration...
 
still not managed to get any scene shoots that i am happy with, never look right for some reason, will keep my eyes open still have time yet to find something i am happy with.
 
never looks like the ones i see on here, they are so impressive
 
that is tricky, but draw inspiration from your favourite snappers
 
Got an ide - ar for this, not sure how well I'll be able to pull it off, but we'll see ¬_¬
 
Now that's such a huge range in there, everyone should be able to turn up something for this round I would think. Should be a good turn out. Good one! :thumbs:

I'm not sure Joe, I think you might be surprised what comes in for this round, and the winner may well be right outside the box. Not that I have a clue what to do yet. :shrug:
 
There's a shot i've been meaning to take for some time, and this theme has reminded me of it. I don't live far from HMP Strangeways, and the shot will involve one girl, one boy, one holdall, one embrace and the gates of strangeways.

If i can get the shot in the next 36hrs i'll use it for the theme, but it's a tight one

Numbers? what numbers?! Do you mean the number you get when you hover the mouse over a photo or count them left to right?
 
The number you get when you hover over mate, they really should have captions underneath with the picture numbers to make it easier - you just can't get the staff ;)
 
Remember there are two pages as well!!

Yep, it's the number you get when you hover over each photo....
I titled each photo "Competition Entry", but I'll change that later to each respective number, so theyre easier to identify :)
 
Yeah I almost did and then noticed there was a 2nd page, might be worth the admin team changing the default number of photos per page for that gallery for future competitions.
 
Ive been looking around and I dont think we can. I think it's up to the users to change it on a gallery per gallery basis.

Watch this space though.
