Yes
Just opened a free account with flickr.

If I want a pic stored on flickr to appear in a post on TP I understand that I require to copy and paste the BBC Code into my post.

Can someone say if it is necessary to set the size to 800 when I do this, please ?

You can select the size from underneath the BB code window

Saw that thanks, Marc, but must it be 800 max in this circumstance ?

No.. you can post larger if you want, but this forum will resize it, but you can still click on it to view the larger size.

But something like 1024 max helps avoid loading issues :)

Sorry Dougie, not sure I follow you. Forum limit s 1024 but if you select 800, it will be 800 on the longest side or am I wide of the mark?

It was the forum limit I was angling at - all understood now.

Thanks also to David and Gramps

To post a picture in the forums, follow the instructions below:

1 - First you need a Flickr account. There's a link at the top of every Flickr page to create an account. If you're unfamiliar with Flickr, it's a free site that lets you upload and share pictures

2- Upload your image file to Flickr

3 - Go to the picture's page and click on the 'ALL SIZES' tab on top of the picture.

4 - Choose the medium size. The large size will make the forum pages load too slowly.

5 - Underneath the picture, you should see "Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage." Copy the text underneath in the text box.

6 - Paste that into a box in the forums, and submit your post.

Seems like a long-winded way of doing it to me.

Selecting the bbcode option under the sharing option, much simpler.

Anyway pretty sure pasting HTML into the text box here won't work as I don't think this forum parses HTML (on the app, can't check)

No, that's not right. Posting HTML into here will not work.

Click on your photo from your photostream, click share. Set it to BBCode, and select 800 pixels. Copy and paste the IMG code into here.

Simple.

I did that yesterday but got told off for it :'( mind you it was a full res image so would have shown full size until loaded up, then resized

Well.. full size is perhaps a bit extreme, I was referring to maybe 1024 or 2048. Loading full size from a pro account would be ridiculous. Make it clickable so people aren't being forced to watch it load if you want to show it full res.

Paste in your 800 pixel BBCode as normal

gJB9o.jpg

Then go back to your flickr page and select the full size by right clicking on the image and selecting original.

B3nob.jpg

Once loaded, right click it, and select Copy image location.

WcSGr.jpg

Go back to your forum post, and select the first part of the URL

t6BJp.jpg

and paste in the new URL you've just copied from the full size image

CJ0mp.jpg

Now when you post that, the image will be displayed in 800 pixels, but will be a link.. when you click on the image, it will load the full size... like this.

Click the image.
