Posting images from Flickr

God I'm getting old and impatient. Just created Flickr account, uploaded some images so erm... how do I get them into a post here.

Help please, before I loose my last remaining marbles :bonk:
 
Click on your picture

Above your picture is a bar that says ACTION on the right hand end of that is a dropdown arrow click on that.

Choose option Grab the HTML/BBCode
click the BB code radio button

Under the BB code box choose the size of picture yoy wish to post, the BB code above will change to that picture size.

Copy whats in the box into your post

Flickr doesn't make this very easy to do compared to other photo hosting sites, but...

  • Click the photo on your photostream that you want to post
  • When it open on its own page, you'll see a small box to the top left with "Actions" on it
  • Click the down arrow icon on the far right of this box (next to the twitter icon)
  • From the drop-down that then appears, select "Grab the HTML/BBCode"
  • In that box, make sure you select BBCode, select the size you want, and copy and paste the generated code in the box.
  • Copy that code into your forum post, and that should be it :)
 
The other option is this brilliant site by Argote:

Enter your user name in the top box (e.g. my flickr address is www.flickr.com/tricky83, so my username is tricky83), then choose an image size (new medium works best on this forums), select what EXIF info to include, and click "find my photos".

Your most recent images are previewed on the left, and the code to copy and paste into a forum post is on the right, including all the exif info you wanted.

Thanks Chris, I was in the set screen and wasn't seeing any of that. My sanity survives to fail another day, lol.
 
The way I do it is to right click on the image, then select large, then when that opens up you can right click again and get 'copy image location', which you can then copy into your post with image tags. It's how I've always done it and how I do it for hot linking fb images too. You don't get exif data and that sort of thing but it's nice and quick.

Go to Actions>View All Sizes>Medium.

I right click on the image and select 'properties' then I copy and paste the Address in place between the html img tags. [img]your image url here[/img]

How can I get this to work? I tried my user name www.Flickr.com/cgc66 but it says user not found

It's also agains the Flickr terms of service as you're meant to link back to the Flickr page ;)

I have a link to my Flickr in my sig if that counts? I may try to get my head around this bbl code stuff someday but we'll see.

Hi Chris, you need to just enter the 'cgc66' bit into the box on the argote webpage. That should then work?

Actually, scrap that, I think you may have a problem with that because that doesn't seem to be a valid flickr account (just went over to see some of your pics at www.Flickr.com/cgc66 and it said invalid).

Ok, managed to find you via flickr people search, but not sure why your username isn't in your photostream URL (any ideas anyone?). However, I did find I could use "54037740@N02" without the quotation marks, and that seems to work. Let me know if it works for you.

PS. I love the smoke pics, really nice composition

Thanks for the smoke pics comment, took a bit of effort, but got a few decent images.
