Hey everyone
Currently got an item for sale on Gumtree which I had hoped to sell locally for cash. I've had a couple of people message me and ask if I'll post it to them if they pay for postage as well. I'd like to sell the item as the money will go into my savings, but I'm worried about getting ripped off and losing the money and the item too...
Has anyone ever had a problem of a buyer paying for an item and then raising a dispute with PayPal to try and get their money back whilst keeping the item? From what I understand the buyer gets lots of protection when paying "for goods or services", but none with the gift option. I don't want to say I'll accept PayPal and get screwed over (and also pay fees!), but I know how dodgy it sounds to a buyer if I say I'll only take PayPal gift!
The only other option I can think of is to do it by bank transfer, but I'm not sure how safe it is to give a stranger my sort code, bank account number and name!
Does anyone else offer to post items or do they generally just say cash on collection only? It's not an overly expensive item, only £90, but I just don't want to get screwed lol
Cheers then!
