Poster prints for just £5 each @ Photobox

I might just get my croc shot done in the 30"*20" size and see how that looks on one of our walls. For £5.00 you simply cannot go wrong.

Thanks for the tip Jimmy.

It was actually Pete who posted this in IRC, but couldnt see it on the forums so thought I might aswell post it :p

Hmmm... I seem to be having difficulty in adding a 3rd image to my albums there. I added the 1st two with ease, but it doesn't seem to want to add a third. Ho hum.... "just keep swimming, just keep swimming..." :)

Nice reminder Jimmy ... ... cheers m8 ... :D

Gotta find some pics to print at that price ... ... be SO RUDE not to ...

:p

I've done it... all went through at last, though I had to use the html method for the third image, but once that was uploaded successfully, I entered the SSPOSTER5 code and the price was reduced to £16.99 for three 30" x 20" poster mate prints.

Can't wait... this is the first time I have used this service and hopefully by the time this weekend is over I will have some more to order - our King Charles Cavaliers... they're gorgeous!!

Awesome, now I just need to see if I can take a worthy picture before the offer runs out.

And just in time for my PC dying too, typical.

ooo goody, got 5 days to clean up a couple of prints.

got some on my wall already but they need a change

Well, I ordered three of these yesterday afternoon, and when I logged on later yesterday evening, I had an email saying they had been dispatched. So - maybe I'll have them sometime today who knows. Whichever way, if I receive them today or on Tuesday (after the Bank Holiday) this will be superb service.

Can't wait..!!

dammit! i can't seem to upload an image to it- i guess its because i'm on a mac. Which is a bit stupid really seeing as macs are/were the machines of choice for image professionals.

I ordered three yesterday and I am on a Mac? It allowed me to upload two via the java script code, but the third I had to use the html method.

All went through OK though, and then a few hours later I received an email stating the posters had been dispatched!!

Hoping I may receive them today!!

The webpage says "offer ends midnight 29th August!".

Does this mean straight after 11.59PM on the 29th, or straight after 11.59PM on the 28th?

After 11:59 on the 29th, becuase after then it becomes the 30th :p

I agree - midnight 29th is as it says on the tin - 12:00 midnight on the 29th. A second later it's the 30th :):bonk:

Who wants to be risky and order a print DEAD ON MIDNIGHT?
Then post a copy of the receipt shouing 00:00:00 :-)

Okay, just kidding.

But I've ordered two 30x20 prints on there... let's see how they come out!

And I've just been given 40 free standard prints :)

Hmm - looks like I went silly and have ordered 14 of the big ones, plus a whole load of smaller ones - hope my monitor colours suits their printers...

They'e come out excellent.

My spiders web one (which you can see on my website) has come out a bit grainy, but thats more than likely my fault.

Still a good shot though.

Going to get a couple more in the order box tonight!! Plus I have 40 free standard sizes to get :) Woohoo!

I aint gonna have chance to process any shots for this until after work today :| probably help me not order too many though :p

This what I did with my £5 prints (although the photo of them isn't the best). Think I might have to order a few more :)

You can see where I got my avatar from :)

You must have did some serious upsampling to get that to fit across three images.

That's beautiful Hawker!!

How did you manage to do that?

More luck than judgement from the printing point of view. It was shot as HDR series (from a 400D) so I could tone map it in Photomatix, exported as TIFF (I can't remember if I printed off that or a converted jpeg).
Anyway, I uploaded the shot fullsize, then used the crop tool they have to draw the red rectangle to the size of each print. Do that three times selecting a different part of the photo (I did try splitting it up in photoshop, but this way ended up being easier). That's it, I don't know if will work on every photo, as this had long exposures with lots of blended colours and little shap detail. One tip is to get an actate/clear platic sheet, and put that up against your monitor, that way I could mark the edges of each crop to make sure they matched without putting pen marks on my laptop screen :)

Edit: Oh and frames from IKEA :)

There's still time - more than 1/2 an hour to go. Unlike others above, I had no probs uploading pics, nor in getting the code recognised, nor in selecting matt as my preference. 4 x posters ordered for £21.99. Happy days :)

been trying to upload for an hour, now it's too late. grrrrrr.

If their technical support is as helpful as I have heard, maybe try and tell them you had difficulties uploading in time, maybe they would give you the discount?

was still working at 00:30 too

Got mine this morning too and it is amazing how much more you see on the print than looking at it on screen, glad I went with my more detailed shots :D Well done Photobox! big thumbs up!

Now if only i had somewhere to put these posters i have bought

How did people sharpen for their posters, if they did at all?

Michael.

I just messed about with unsharp mask, and made it look as sharp as I could without it creating noise etc, the posters actually look sharper than they did on my screen which is a bonus :D

There's a great photoshop plug-in "Photokit Sharpener" which is designed to optimise sharpening in relation to final output size - I use it for all my sharpening & it produces great results
