Postcards from Pripyat...

It's quite amazing how that place has changed and decayed over the years.

Something mentioned (news?) this past couple of days, about bears living in the area again.

Thanks for sharing this Mark I absolutely loved it, this is a place that is easily in my top 10 places I want to visit, I just love the idea of Mother Nature reclaiming the area slowly be surely...of course it helps I've a general fascination with abandoned places but this is just something else

That was what struck me too, the amount of greenery inspite of the radiation, nature slowly reclaiming it. I know there are risks but it is a place that fascinates me and part of me really would jump at the chance to visit.

Even the local mammals have green fur!

A fair few animals have returned to the area, and apparently, for the most part, they seem fine. Moose, deer, boar, otter, badger, horses, elk, ducks, swans, storks are actively hunted by lynx and packs of wolves all of which look physically normal but unsurprisingly test high for radioactive contamination.

Hmmmm, I might have to organise a visit. I've always wanted to take photographs of glow in the dark wildlife :D
