Postcard Challenge Round Two - Song Titles

I received my card today from Steve, 99.9% sure I have the title of the song and of course the band. As for the condition it's not too bruised or battered.

Bit of a rocker are you Steve?

Thanks Carol

Mine also came today from Steve, thanks.

I hadn't a clue what the song title was at first then it just came to me. I had a little check of the charts to confirm and it seems I've got it right.

Cheers.

You guys are killing me here. I've not even got a song in my head...

I'm in the same position! But receiving these wonderful cards (4 so far) has been inspiring me to think harder. It'll be some time yet, but I'll get there. (Steve, your card came through the post perfectly. Everyone: I have no idea what most of the song title are, with a fairly good idea of one of them. But fantastic work.)

If youre struggling to pick a song title, why not pick some dates that are important to you and then check the charts for those dates? You may find some inspiration that way. I just picked two songs from one of my favourite bands, easy really ;)

Mine also arrived from Steve today. A really lovely shot, well composed and taken and beautifully printed.
Although I'm not actually sure how it got to me .......

It looks as though it has been deliberately torn across the area where the stamp goes, it was also folded across the middle. It's really annoying as I wanted to collect them all and frame them or at least scan them in and make a montage..bloody Royal Mail...:punch:

Bloody hell Andy, that's really annoying and that corner of the photo is the best bit!

That's shocking Andy! Such a shame

I got mine too Steve thank you! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

Damn.... I must have burnt that corner in a bit longer than I thought :).

I was a bit worried when I realised that the paper was so much thinner, and I considered putting them in an envelope and posting them...but then it wouldn't be a postcard anymore. I will print another one and send it by envelope so you have a full set.

Thanks for the comments everyone....this is quite a fun challenge....hope we can do it again in the future.

Oh I thought it was an ongoing mini challenge, once everyone had sent their cards the next theme would be picked.

Once the cards have been sent, would it be a good idea to put our shots in the thread so that the wider 'Fillum' community can see them?

This is only the second time we've done a postcard challenge, being filmies we can only concentrate on one thing at a time, trying to do the postcard challenge at the same time as the 'winter where you live' and POTY 2014 has me confused enough already without thinking of the next challenge. And we haven't even done a treasure hunt for ages either :runaway:

That's ok I just presumed that is what would happen, I am also doing POTY 2014 not that I am good enough but it's all experience and gives me a reason to take the camera with me or do something different.

Glad its not just me!

I was thinking about the treasure hunt the other day, I was going to suggest another but I don't think I've got mental capacity at the moment!! On the other hand I'm giving serious consideration to doing my own colour developing so the treasure hunt would be an excuse to burn some film...

So I've got a song title in my head, and some of the props, but no good idea how to turn it into a decent image yet... would an album title as backup be acceptable?o_O

I don't see why not.

Tbh that's what I've done Chris.

Song titles could be from anywhere I think. I chose a single, but no reason why it couldn't be an album track or even a song from a musical. All still songs

Mine also arrived from Andy0306, thanks. As Nick says a great shot and one that even I can guess the song title :)

God I'm so far behind with this! At least I have my song title chosen now, shooting it this weekend!

Thanks to all those received so far. Standards are high!

Andy0306's card arrived today, another excellent interpretation. All these cards have got me feeling all nostalgic, I think the record deck may see some use this weekend.

How to confuse a teenager. Give her a record and tell her which track you want to listen to :)

Cheers Steve, very kind of you.

Got mine today too Andy thank you!
Ace song choice :D

I was after 'How Soon is Now' to be played; try photographing that song title for a challenge . :wideyed:

It was her confusion in what to do that made me want to record (no pun intended :)) the moment. Photo was taken after the fingerprints were removed and instructions given on how to hold a record properly. Yes it is a great album. I was thinking of doing a photo outside the Salford Lads Club for this postcard challenge, but it's not really a song title as such so didn't really work.

Got my postcard from Andy this morning. Another great image. Really enjoying seeing everyone's ideas...it's a lovely challenge, and made even more special by receiving postcards.

With the internet and mobile comms as they are and postal charges so high, I guess postcards will eventually be consigned to history. So it seems proper that F&C are keeping the tradition alive :)

Got my cards from Moo but I have a question, they have a purple tint to them why? I am quite disappointed with them to be honest not sure you will get the title of the song!:sulk:

Purple tint sounds like Moo did not do a proper job, have you considered getting them to do them again? There's plenty of time!

OK, got my shot today. Only about the 4th time I've shot a constructed image, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. It has already exposed the limitations of the small Manfrotto ball head I bought at the Photo Show; I had been going to buy the larger (and heavier, and more expensive) version, when another person nearby said he found the smaller one quite adequate for his DSLR. Can't be lighter than my MX, thought I. And indeed, it seems fine... until you wind on the film, then everything moves! Never take advice from the digerati, for they know not what we do. Next time I'll maybe put the motor drive on, that might fix it.

Bracketed the exposure, tried to bracket the focus, sorry Jonathan, I am indeed insecure!

Hi ChrisR, I could ask them to re-print nothing to lose in doing so.

.....................I have just had a look at my order and to be honest I think its the photograph it has that look about it and I think it has just been enhanced by printing. Perhaps my wee point and shoot Nikon is not feeling well after all these years of doing nothing.

Was considering this but not too sure how serious I am about becoming a filmy. :)

You can get that same setup for about £40 on eBay with some careful searching. I picked up an A-1 and 50mm for £25 a while ago and it was in near mint condition.

I think you could still be serious about becoming a filmie and spend an awful lot less than that Carol. Do you shoot Canon in the digital world?

For example

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nikon-F80...452315?pt=UK_Film_Cameras&hash=item2a3917435b

Hi Andy and Rob yes I shoot with a Canon 60D and my lenses are a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 + a Sigma 10-20mm along with the Canon kit lens. Was only looking at the whole package not buying everything individually but I suppose it makes sense. I would prefer to use Canon only because I know their set-up and familiar with them, I don't suppose a bit of variety would go a miss though. ;)

God just checked your link Rob I could become a serious filmie and use Nikon for that price!!!

Yes, that particular ad looks a bit dodgy to me, "seller refurbished" is a bit sus if it's gone much further than replacing the seals, and I'd worry about someone spraying oil around inside!

If you're not Canon, try this Pentax MX if you're quick! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentax-MX...228138?pt=UK_Film_Cameras&hash=item4d1a08386a

EDIT: sorry, see you ARE a Canon lady... not too many Canon users here AFAIK, but I'm sure there are good buys around, and someone will know!

Hay Chris I may be a Canon Lady but that doesn't mean exclusively so, it all comes down to value for money and usability. ;)

Edit....Perhaps this could be your homework all of you, find me a value for money film camera!
