I was about to put up a sales ad for my Nikon kit, but the only thing stopping me was thoughts on postage. I would like to put it up for collection only, but realise this
will limit my sales chances. What are peoples experiences of posting DLSR's recently good, bad, none of the above ?

I can probably send most RMSD, just not sure about the tri pod, it might just be to long.

Royal Mail Special Delivery is great, very reliable and never had any issues.

The tripod might be better (cheaper) sent via someone like Hermes or Collect Plus which accept larger packages, Parcelforce too.

Also, used RMSD many times over the years, again no problems, just make sure whatever your sending is well packaged!

Never had a problem with RMSD. In fact having sent hundreds of items over the years only four have been lost, three abroad (and the fourth was sent 2nd class unregistered).

RMSD gives you the option to insure up to the value of £1000.00 as well, and they will take all shapes and size parcels I think.

I agree RMSD is very good but Parcelforce have a length limit of 1.5 metres

Royal Mail have a length limit of 61cm and anything over 2Kg can get very expensive. I'd look at Parcelforce for anything over 2Kg and just add extra insurance (£100 is standard)

Yes, it looks like PF and RSMD come out roughy the same cost (with at least £500 insurance), but PF will carry the bigger parcel.

Never had a problem with RMSD in the past 10 years. Reliable and insured....

Re RMSD; very good value up to 2kg but then the cost gets silly.

If the weight is over 2kg split the delivery into one or more parcels. For example, sending a DSLR with leads, charger, manuals etc, send the body/lens up to 2kg by RMSD and the low-value remainder in a separate package RMSD or even just signed for.
