Don't know if any of you follow 'Post Secret' (its a collection of 'secrets' that people mail into this 'project' this guy started a few years back, kind of interesting)... but came across this one yesterday. Without opening a can of worms, this is probably somewhat true for quite a few 'professionals' in this day and age ...

Several years ago a well known local Pro Wedding tog gave a talk to the camera club I was a member of then and she pretty much said all of that

Then showed a set of Wedding images that proved it too :(

I keep saying it on my courses, but you don't need to be a good photographer (or even know what you're doing) to be successful in Wedding Photography

Crap innit

There's no need to know anything technical if you set your camera to the P next to the A, S and M because that's the setting for professionals to use.

HTH :)

When I first started out with digital photography I was a strong defendant of Auto/AP/SP/P modes.

There's still a case for them in certain situations, and I know a lot of wedding togs who shoot mostly in aperture priority mode. The difference is they know when to move over to manual, why they're doing it, and more importantly, how to do it!

I use AP most of the time, M the rest of the time

I can't see any point in S or P for the way I work, but I do know several VERY expensive togs who favour P

But you're spot on - its not what you use, but knowing why you're using it that matters

:)

Cor wish I could make bucket loads of cash out of any type of photography without having a clue about what I was doing :D
Seriously though, I expect that apart from noticing oof and perhaps badly over and under exposed photos, would the average punter know that they are being given crap photos?

The link isn't showing me anything other than what looks like a title page but I can't seem to find the article?

There's no article... It's a postcard. It's part of the Post Secret thing. Like I said in the first post, people mail in their 'secrets' to this guy... It's some sort of ongoing project. The whole thing is quite interesting. I just found that one particular one intriguing.
