Hi everyone, a friend of my husband has asked if I can photograph her work and change the colour. It's a lamp that when lit gives off an orange glow, but the lamp itself is white. She says other photographers have tried but can't make the light white, as she wants. She wants the photo to be dark with the lamp lit and against a black background. Can anyone advise? I'm running photoshop CS5

It would be hard to create as a single exposure. I'm assuming the lamp shade is white, but translucent, and the light source itself orange... so when turned on the orange light shines through the white "glass"?

If that's correct, then it would be very hard to create as a single exposure as any flash bright enough to overcome the orange glow and render the shade white, would also overpower the orange light. Very selecting flagging off of the flash would be possible... but very tricky. I'd probably shoot one lit with flash with the light off (camera locked off on a tripod or stand)... and then one with the studio lights off... and just the light from the lamp itself, and composite them. Would be much less trouble than trying to light it as one exposure.
