Post Processing assistance please -Just can't get it right

Guys,

I don't think I'm the worst at post processing but for some reason I just can't get this shot to look how I want it and was wondering if any PP wizards out there might be able to help. My problem with it is that I just don't really like the background where the castle lies, particularly the over exposed sunlight behind it. Is there anything I can do or shall I just put it in the B!N?

In Lightroom, can you not bring the exposure of the whole image up slightly to brighen the castle and foreground slightly (as it appeas to be a little under) then use an Adjustments Brush in to fix the sky (reduce exposure/highlighs)?

Happy to give it a go myself if your willing to post the original file?
