Bored bored bored bored bored...

I never realised just how bad daytime tv is...what is the point of buying an antique from a trader who bought it originally from an auction at presumably a profit to the trader to take it back to an auction to see how much profit they can make ? why do chavs want to go on the Jeremy Kyle show ? :bang:

I can't go out the house and use the camera, and can't move around enough to use it indoors. I can't watch any DVD's with any funny scenes or even read any jokes on here as it hurts to laugh an may rip the stitches.

I've prob got another 4 weeks of this !! TP looks like my only saviour me thinks. So am afraid you may see too much of me on here and I may end up commenting on every post..sorry !!

hey I can sympathise I had a kidney removed last wednesday and I am Bored to distraction, at least I can walk now and OMG I have just seen the first Christmas advert on telly for DFS...I wish you a speedy recovery...I only have another 9 days off work...would be great but I am self employed.

haha. The chavs go on the show cos it's something interesting in the midst of their otherwise very dull and boring existance. Oh, and often a freebie night in a posh hotel (Travelodge), a decent meal (Little Chef's Chickn'chips), and a free beers! :D

As for antiques, i've never understood why people buy old tat but they do...

Maybe you should try ITV4 and catch one of the old hour long drama series like the sweeney or minder? Just keep in mind it's the same episode they show 3 or 4 times a day ;)

Personally, I can highly recommend you use this time to do one of the following:

1. Take macro shots of the stitches ripping as you laugh ;)
2. Review and catalogue your photo collection.
3. Keyword your photo collection.
4. Learn your fav editing software inside out.
5. Hunt for antiques you've seen on TV on eBay, ready to sell them at a profit when you are mobile.
6. Create yourself a website.
7. Write that best seller book you probably thought of doing all these years...
8. Catch an episode of the saint on ITV4 and see if Roger Moore has improved his eyebrow twitch in the past 40 years ;)
9. Set your mobile to hide its number and annoy the heck out of someone you actually don't like.
10. Play deal or no deal and cheer as the picks the wrong boxes and loses. Even better if you play along and pick the winning boxes, shouting "what a ******" at the telly, to the annoyance of anyone watching with you :D

Of course, only 5 of these are serious suggestions ;) Hope ya feel better soon!

Thanks Paulc. Hope you're feeling better too and continue with a speedy recovery.

Thanks too Hepburn. Nearly had a go at option 1 after reading your post ;)

The Sky+ box is getting a bit of a bashing at the moment and I'm watching anything vaguely decent and not funny on satellite, though I did catch myself watching 'Great Railway Journeys' the other day :geek:

Feeling a bit like an 80 year old in a home at the moment...shuffling around in my dessing gown, sitting in a comfy chair most of day, and looking forward to the tedious repetitiveness of each meal  All I need now is a Doris !

Have definitely got the photo suggestions on the list if things to do though, in between those mobiles calls ;) Might even post a few...

Hope get well soon Too Defiance.........My lifesaver has been Virgin media in particular Ray mears..Judge Judy and back episodes of Father Ted...Jeremy kyle..Pah

not had an op but am off sick with a bad back, had 5 weeks off which was bad enough, went to work for 3 days and got sent home being told im no use if i can't walk one end of the ward to another, doctors yesterday and another 4 weeks off at least :(

so far i have watched all of the west wing, 5 series of red dwarf most of dr who and a larger number of films i'm sooooo board its untrue.

if nothing else we can keep each other company :D

lol well book me a space i need it :)

TBH i count my self lucky i am mobile over short distances and can drive for short periods of time so not totally house bound although it feels like it. might even get round to another wallE story soon, just lacking inspiration at the moment :( ideas welcome :)

Thanks Just Dave and Toothie :)

9 weeks out would blow my mind with boredom...poor you !! I think we should set up a new sub-forum 'Crock's Corner' for us to stay sane in :)

Paulc, i'm up for the invalids trips, it would need to be one of those Ambulance minibuses with a tail lift and a few carers for good measure :D

Erk, I sympathise. I broke my ankle last year and was off for 6 weeks, unfortunatley after 2 weeks, I was quite mobile, so it was no excuse not being able to do the dishes/do the ironing/hoover up/do the washing/hang washing up/dust and tidy up etc etc etc...

:D

I reckon we should ban you then, really make your day! :p

Just kidding! :D

I know how bad day time tv is. I had to endure two months of it a few years ago when I had a liver problem. Ended up buying my first computer before I got carted off to the funny farm!

Sounds like Dr Monkeh needs to do the rounds!

Defiance i can put them back in for you if you like (yes i have the necessary qualifications) which will give us both something to do :D

is it wrong to enjoy putting stitches in?

It beats daytime tv, that's for sure :D promise you'll warm your hands up first though ;)

Wrong...no...erm...warped maybe...lol :D

Got a macro lens, or do you want to borrow one? :D

LOL. I was thinking about doing a daily photo series on the wound until I realised that a) i'd have to post in the 'Nudes and Glamour' section and would probably still break the rules b) i can't bend into a position to take it (the pic) and c) i'd probably pass out looking at it anyway :gag:

Thanks for the offer though, I'd consider modelling for someone at the right price :D

OMG I dont like where this thread is going...defiance what have you had done?..I hope it isnt cosmetic .....I was feeling sorry for myself but you have cheered me up no end just knowing that there is someone worse off than me:lol:, but boredom is universal and toothie can you do drains and catheters:shake:......fortunately I am on the mend and I am frankly disgusted at how quickly the sympathy disapears once you get home..no texts no concerned phone calls no more being waited on hand and foot..just BOREDOM and daytime TELLY!!!!:bonk::bonk:

haha. if the stitches are in the region one might think they are from your description, you're most welcome to model for me! But hey, you'd be paying me for my "suffering" !!! :D

I had the pleasure (not) of 4 doctors at separate times having a damn good inspection and feel of said area, and luckily (touch wood) it wasn't as bad as it could have been and they just had some other bits to fix. Did come away thinking that they need more woman doctors in that field of medicine to reduce patient stress though :naughty:

It's not just no phone calls, it's no e-mails, private messages, lusty women....

Will £1.50 do ?

Lightweights !!
Bored already, after how long...?
I was signed off work in February, and have just been given a medical certificate for another 6 months off - I too am self employed, and before I was signed off, was unable to work much for a few months, so am unlikely to have any business to return too...
That said, I am mobile again, so can get out, but being on crutches is not the most fun, and certainly makes taking pictures hard work - I was taken out by Bruja yesterday for a drive and to try to get a picture for the 'Transport' competition - look out for pictures later..
Having driven miles to a remote spot, Bruja had to drag my prop - a kids buggy/trike along an all but empty beach - just one other person. The moment before we both took out our cameras, the poor woman who only wanted a quiet topless swim took off her clothes, then turned to see us with cameras out. We started snapping away, and within a few minutes, a bus had stopped and shed its load load of people, who were all lined up watching us and her with some amusement and many pointing fingers..

Ask your doc for some Tramadol  It will bring mystery and horror to an otherwise boring day. You can also have conversations with the people you see once you have taken a couple of doses ... :$

On a serious note. Can you get someone to take you out in the car for a drive? The occasional weekend drive is the only thing that keeps me just on the good side of sane. You don't have to get out of the car, so you can make yourself comfortable, and you don't even have to get dressed if it's too painful. Then all you need to do is sit back and just enjoy.

.

Is this a bit like inflatadol :bonk::bonk::bonk: prescribed for lonely perverts:lol:

I feel for you all, I know what it was like before and after my back operation. The computer certainly helped. I could not get around to take pictures so I spent a lot of time playing with PS and that helped my editing skills. I also started making fractals - the time spent rendering can be long but getting them just how you like them can be very absorbing (try apophysis). Some of my efforts can be seen here . The black and white ones are not fractals but hundreds (thousands?) of black and white squares that will show you just how bored I got at times as I made these in PS and then played with the filters with them

I have lots and lots of tramadol, the people you speak of wont talk to me any more because they say they are a figment of my imagination and they don't much like it in my mind :(

have just started plan b, which is to connect my self to a little box that gives me little electric shocks to help get rid of the pain its called TENS and does actually feel quite nice :D

Huh, Kate's TENS machine didn't help me much when she was giving birth to our kids, despite me using it for days after....

Hope it helps you Toothie - they do make a fair difference !

Lightweights !!

What he's missed out is I'm ill too!!!! I've got Multiple Sclerosis and I'm stuck in bed cream crackered after yesterday. We must have looked like a right pair, me on one crutch and him on two. It was the lame leading the crippled.

And you're all lightweights - try 17 years :lol::lol::lol:

If you get really bored you can always pm me...... but steveinspain probably wouldn't recommend it :cuckoo:

Hmmm this tramadol sounds like just what i need...though the TV is driving me mad enough :bang:

It has to be better than the cocodomol they gave me though which does nothing except block you up which is not good when you can't strain grrrr.

Kerioak, those fractals are damn good. Am going to start work on an 8 year backlog of camcorder tape i think, to keep me sane.

Steve / Bruja...Spanish beaches like you describe could be perfect therapy for me...and yes we are definitely lightweights, but moaing keeps up vaguely sane :D

Jo, will get a car trip back to the hospital soon, so that'll be a start I hope :)
