Yes
I've got quite a few 67mm filters but no 67mm lenses at the moment, so, if I buy a 72mm to 67mm step-down ring will that reduce the lens width to 67mm as well?

Andy

yes .. and the camera as well :)

ha ha ha this is a gag right?

:)

I know it seems daft but I'm having a moment here.....:runaway::eek: I was looking for something else and I saw an advert for a step down ring and I thought maybe I could use the 67mm filters but then I had brain fade and I can't work out how it would work.....sometimes my brain functions at a different level...sadly its a very much lower level....

The step down goes on the lens thread and the filter connects to the step down ring. I use one most times I need a filter for the RB, they work fine but its a pita for lens caps as you either need one for the filter dimensions or take the step down ring off every time you want to put the cap on. Very slight risk of vignetting on very wide lenses too.

No such thing as a stupid question.

Thanks Steve, I can see how that works.....now.

are you sure you're not trying to step up ? 67mm to 72mm? then yes the filter will get in the way of the lens

Yes of course, this is one of the perils of using a keyboard/brain interface when off your t*ts on smack.....well I'd had a drop of amber nectar anyway. I have 67mm filters to fit on a 72mm lens so its a step-up ring... what a dozy pillock. :D

Thanks for that, it is as I thought, vignetting may occur. I don't think it will be much of a problem from 72mm to 67mm though.

Why not find someone with 72mm filters and 67mm lenses to do a filter swap with??

^^^ Now why didn't I think of that (y) I really am being incredibly blonde this week.
