Possible to salvage this?

I went on a walk with the youngest, and unfortunately, my ability and the sky conspired to mean that my pics were not the best.

Is it possible to rescue shots like this in LR, (I am new to all methods of PP) and if so what would I have to do?

I would try:

Develop module: Adjustment Brush: Exposure +1.5-ish and go over Castle and foreground which might give a sunny appearence - you can adjust the slider to make it brighter/darker and the others to get different effects - play with them so you learn what they do. Click DONE when your are finished - you can always go back and adjust them again.

Next select the Graduated filter tool an pick a very pale soft blue and drag down from the top to above the top of the castle so there is still white above the castle itself


Next, again in Develop go to the options on the RHS and select Lens Corrections and click the Manual Tab then experiment with the chromatic aberration sliders until you hae got rid of the thin blue line around the top of the brickwork

Everyone will have different ways of doing things but this is how I would start to experiment with this picture
 
Ok, tried doing that but struggled a bit, will practice a bit, however, I messed about with the histogram and came up with the following, which is an improvement I think, but obviously not perfect :)

I'm no PP wizard so what I would do is (if possible) go back and try a few more shots at different settings, that way you will learn a bit more about your camera and photogrphy in general.

In the bigger picture going back is possible and will happen, its local.

I havent had a great deal of opportunity to get to grips with the camera/photography really due to work :( but that will improve.

To be honest the pics are took in this set were all snatched due to the walk being so I could spend time with the youngest after Ive spent so much time at work recently.

have you still got the raw file? Working with that will make it a lot easier.
 
No problem Gary, if you have the raw file and want to email it to me I'll try in my ham fisted way to rescue it for you. As I work very much by trial and error I can't tell you what I'd do until I've tried it myself.

Image returned. As I stated at the outset I'm only a beginner at editing myself and others could do a much better job but it will give you an idea of what could be done.

I had to use a screen grab, Very low-res image this was a quick fix, two layer masks and modify. not a lot of definition in image layer mask missed a couple of bits :thumbs:

 
Just have a bit more experimentation with your PP program.
