I brought a twin pack of sandisk sd cards last October from Amazon and after less than 5 months both became faulty when they both developed the fault where they became locked and unusable,so after a long winded process i`ve been refunded my money from Amazon , the issue i have is when i contacted Sandisk for a replacement they asked for a serial number which should have been on the back of the card and wasn`t so i suspected they were fake but having been to tesco today and brought another card this also has no serial number on the back has any one got any thoughts on this please?

I got a buch of high capacity CFs from Sandisk that never
failed in anything! And now that you talk about it, I went in
the studio and checked…
My cards don't even fail there as they have a serial number
on the edge opposite the connection side.

OP is referring to SD cards :)

Darn right! … so, again in the studio…

I have fewer Sandisk SDs for my D800E and…
yes, in the back, the number!

Sold by Amazon or fulfilled by Amazon? It makes a difference to the provenance of a purchase.

Quick update the new card does exactly the same thing , i`m now thinking is this a caemra fault?

Do you have any working cards (could you borrow one from a friend) to check the camera?

took battery out and left it for a few minutes, seems to have corrected the glitch ,who`d have thought it? doesn`t explain the lack of serial numbers

They're virtually invisible to the naked eye. I used an 8x loupe and found them just above the 'MADE IN CHINA' stamp at the bottom of the card.

I have some basic (i.e. not "Extreme" or "Ultra") Sandisk cards, blue with a mainly blue label, and even those have a serial number just above the "Made in China" print.

It wouldn't be the first time Amazon have been nabbed for selling "dodgy" goods, I remember there was an issue with "genuine" Canon LP-E6 batteries a few months ago, which resulted in Amazon suspending sales of them.
