weekly Posiview's TP52 2015. Week 52 Christmas added and FINISHED :)

Very creative take on the theme for me, prefer the B&W as it looks a bit more stark

Hi Andy. b&w for me as befitting the image .... adds that extra bit of drama to my mind. Excellent idea for the theme

This has a lot more impact than the first submission which I thought was a bit panto. In fact it is now quite distressing. I'm calling social services.

Invert - I'm not fond of these orb shots, but it's on theme and well exposed, DOF add a little extra but the subject is a tad dare I say 'boring' , Sorry
Shimmer - Excellent shot, Bokeh is lovely and the quality of the colours is spot on, most definitely shimmers
Elements - Very clever indeed, I really like this. You have done really well to capture all the shapes with the water droplets/gloops and the individual grains of all the other elements. great stuff.
Seasonal - A wee bit dark for me, great idea and fun, just the lighting for me.
Full - nice shoehorn. Lovely b&w images.
Habit - Cute little idea, well exposed and all the detail you have captured is spot on, the focus stacking has really made this image, nice one
Covered - Twisted, messed up etc etc. lol definitely on theme, it scares me a little lol

Cheers, the feedback from Susie really did work. Social Servies will never find her...she's hidden in her naughty place :)

Cheers Nathan, appreciate the FB. Yeah inverted, not the one I wanted but had to settle for this one.

Twisted....scares me as well :runaway:

Covered, definitely prefer the edit, the blood and knife were just a distraction. Love the way your mind works :runaway:

Glad you've got all eventualities covered with the Social Services ;)

Hi Andy,

Habit: Brilliant! Subject matter that perfectly fits the bill and you can eat it too. What's not to like (y)
Covered: Not liking this one at all. Whilst it does fit the theme, it's really not my cup of tea at all. Sorry :(

Cheers....nobody wants to be in my mind when it comes to TP52 :)

Brilliant idea and very creative too. I think the original B&W is the best of the three. I may even try selective colouring of the red.

Cheers, yeah it's B&W for me too.

Cheers, Lee, no worries regarding Covered, it is an emotive submission.

Cheers.

Well, after a brilliant long weekend in Northumberland, here is my submission for Connection.

Holy Island, if you have not been there I'd encourage you to take a trip there. It's like the place has been built for photographers :) I spent more time on this meet (but still not enough) just looking at the surrounding sights. Wonderful.

Thanks to @blondie606 for holding my flash

#1 was processed in LR, Colour Efex pro and finished of in PS. #2 processed in LR, Analog Efex pro and finished of in PS.

Cheers.

Hi Andy. Never been but sounds and looks great. Reminds me a bit of St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall which you can walk to when the tide is out. As always, I prefer the b&w version ... gives it atmosphere and makes the image more dramatic I feel. There seems to be some strange stain-like marks that have occurred top left corner and to the sea by your right elbow though which are not obvious in the colour version.

Hello, Andy... Great shot and I like the edit on the B&W there. Nice retouch on the sides to make it looks like an old photograph. I think humans in general should spent some time in nature to get re-connected and re-energized. Lovely idea

Nora beat me to it but I guessed the stains are there to make it look old. @Carl Ayling like St Michaels, Holy Island is connected by a tidal causeway, hence connected I guess.

Ah! Silly me - should have realised. :banghead:

Cheers, yeah it's a tin type preset

Connected in two ways, the causeway and being connected to nature and one's surroundings.

Cheers.

Hi Andy I really like the processing on the B+W very good work nothing to crit at all (y)

Hi Andy.
I do like the B&W processing, but I'm going to go against the grain here and say I prefer the colour version.
Not sure why, perhaps because the B&W version appears to have a dreamy aura to it.

I'm preferring the colour version, lovely sharp detail on your back, I'm really interested in knowing why/how 3 different processing methods used ?? as always like the finish you come up with, do you use certain pre-sets each time, or does each bit of software do a particular element that you like tinkering with ??

Sorry, lots of questions I know :)

Respect brother for getting lynne to flash you on the beach. I see she got you to look the other way though, shame. :D

I like this. I feel the selective focus disconnects you from the "island" which gives the narrative of you looking back and wishing you were there which connects you to it IYSWIM.
On the other hand I might have preferred to see the island in focus rather than the back of your anorak. ;)

I have a personal dislike for showing colour and B&W alongside each other but I won't go there.

I love Holy Island, makes me all nostalgic (but not for long when I see the weather forecast :p)

I like th B&W tin type processed one best. It has a timeless feel to it. Your posture also shows you are Connected with the ground in a very Tai Chi way (y)

Something a bit sad about it, and the B&W PP makes it even more sad, but hey ... in a poetic kind of a way. :)

Two weeks today and I'm off to sunny Portugal till 2016.

Nice shot Andy. The mono one is the one for me. If I was to say one thing though, I think the OCF is a tiny bit harsh. Perfect for to the theme :)

Was this with the D750? How are you getting on with it?

Hi Andy ....I'm in the B&W camp ....it has a nice relaxed feel to it .....excellent choice for the theme with the double connection.

I've came across many images of the location but never been. Like the composition prefer the B&W version and the processing effect.

Thanks, all, appreciate the feedback. Must get back to Holy Island in the snow :)

Lee @Leebert the D750 is a belting camera, but I really must use it to it's full potential. The high ISO is exceptional.

Cheers.

Super idea, worthy of a series.

Just guessing how you did it. 2 shots from different perspectives, both cut out and put on white, with one blurred to make the background?

Hyper fine critique, and all subjective as the "technicals" are all spot on.
I think it would work even better if you de-saturated the background colour a little bit. For me it overpowers the subject leading me past and I have to constantly refocus my eyes (maybe this is intentional?). Also - it would seem too much of a coincidence if you didn't plan it this way so I will assume you intended it - I baulk a little that the ends of the leaves line up so close to the background colour. I would like to see a little bit of separation, framing the subject more loosely IYSWIM

I can see the progression from your minimalist project. You're getting a "style" Well done. (y)

Hi, Brian, just on my way t work so I'll comment further tonight.

Regards how I did it. Petals on white board. Rose in cup above it. Me stood over the top photographing downwards.

Cheers.

Took me a moment to get what was going on, which is a good thing. Well done

Love the colours in that Andy

Not sure what the connection with the theme is,
Andy asked to borrow my shoe horn as I wasn't using it this week :D

Hi Andy, clever idea, wasn't sure at first if the petals should have been more scattered but on looking again it works as it is (y)

nice detail and colour

Cheers, I like the get members to think :)

same here. Yes, well done. Neat take. (y)

Cheers.

I like that Andy, a great idea. Personally I would crop the bottom off, where the stem changes at the bottom. Nice colour and looks better clicked through to flickr.

Cheers, Michael, I did consider a square crop but it didn't feel right.

Not sure what the connection with the theme is, but I like that it symbolizes a ghost of a flower. Nice take (y)

Petals have fallen down and I'm looking down on the stem/petals (y)

Love the colours in that Andy (y)

I don't do shoehorns, y'all need to think laterally ;)

Cheers.

Cheers, a little thought needed with this one; glad you got it :)

Good point @Brian_of_Bozeat about desaturating the petals. Wish I'd have used a narrower aperture to show a little more detail in the petal.

Lol - the link to theme is "I let go of the crowbar and it fell DOWN to the ground...."
