Posiview's Photo 52 'Nature' added **FINISHED!!**

andy... ...water one looks like Jabba the hutt's reflection if he was able to lean over that far..

BUT!!! the light trail getting jiggly ... awesome..

Abstract:

The light trails for me  On theme and has pretty colours - I like the composition as well as the movement which the static reflection in water doesn't have.

Hi Andy

not sure if I like the water image ....can't put my finger on why as it certainly hits the theme..your light trail ( ? ) abstract though....really works for me, great mix of colors & super dark BG....nice work mister

Thanks for the comments...strange how what was essentially as last minute idea, came off quire well....

Hiya Andy,

Just seen your latest additions to abstract. I agree with Mark about the bubbles/foam on the water shot. I was thinking of doing a water one for abstract .... but still not made up my mind which shots to post for the theme.

The light trails one has some great colours, I'm just not sure about the composition and I think it would look great cropped to exclude the bright white lights on the right.

I'm probably going to be late posting again as we have a Halloween party to go to tonight and as I've been here at camp all week, the netbook screen isn't the best for viewing photos and WiFi connection a bit slow. But heyho I have tomorrow to post.

Cheers

Dawn :)

there are some really great photographs and it really does show me that there are abstract opportunities everywhere.

I have a feeling this theme many turn into a postfest for me...:naughty:

My thoughts exactly.
I'm thinking nifty 50 and abstract challenge next year!

Love the lights image, colours are great.
Who was moving, you or the image?

Nifty and abstract...sounds like a plan...

I had my camera on the dash, on top of a t-shirt and I was using my remote...bit scary...:nono:

Cheers.

Now, these aren't likely to be to everyone's taste, but I quite like the minimalist feel.

I'm without tripod so they were a tad difficult to photograph.

2 small plastic balls on top of white card on the floor with the flash gun also on the floor firing across the floor.

I really like the details in the card on #1.

Cheers and I still have a few up my sleeve but these dark nights aren't helping...:bang:

number 2 for me andy... the starness of the balls look like a pair of eyes...staring through a padded wall... something staining the wall..

Hiya Andy,

Very interesting take on the Pair theme and I have to say I had a bit of a chuckle because they sort of reminded me of Mr Krabs eyes (from Spongebob Squarepants), especially #2.

I too like the texture of the card in #1 and the way you have lit them creates an ecliptic feel.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

I read about this use of the flash on the strobist light, it's amazing what detail you get out of paper when firing the flash as you have across the top of the paper.

Two great shots and very apealing considering their simplicity.
Well done, possibly two of your best in recent weeks IMHO.
You should have broke your tripod sooner!!

2 great pics there Andy, number 1 is my favourite, great detail, lighting is spot on, nice and simple, works really well.

Really liking number 2 mate. I like them both! Nice and simple and as said, looks like a pair of eyes piercing you!

Cheers, and the irony of having to photograph this theme without a tripod it the resulting photograph being one of my best, so far, isn't lost on me...:(

Pair #2.

I had this idea straight away but couldn't do it with myself as the subject without tripod. So I said to Jackie, "Watch me take the photograph of you as the subject, and then you can take the photograph of me". When I'd take the photograph we realised it was time to go to the bonfire.

Thanks to Jackie or being such a sport...

Not sure if this needs a NSFW tag....

Cheers.

Hi Andy

nice Pair of images for the theme...simple yet effective...like the mono & the shadows , the detail in the backgrounds....great work mister

You sure that's not her answer to you buying a nice new tripod!

Andy.....that's worse than paulie's final oktoberfest photo...

Nice pair of images for pair ;)

I like the finish on the last and the comments by Neil on the tripod

Well done

Thanks, all.

Well new tripod+head purchased so I'm back to normal...

Within a nanosecond of seeing the theme I knew what I was going to do: Isabelle, safe in her mummy's arms.

Thanks to Jackie and Isabelle for agreeing to pose again by sitting outside in the cold....:D

I'm quite happy how these turned out, if I say so myself.

Andy...the first one on my phone conveys the message totally... Well done... Love the mono..

Thanks all. I did enjoy this one.

I've just done another one in a similar vein but with me. Not had chance to view yet.

Looking forward to seeing y'alls safe.

Cheerz

Safe in your own home???

Not as good as my first 2, I feel, but another self portrait... and no water, pies, icing sugar, Lilt...being thrown over me....:D

As as child I always felt safe in bed...my quilt was like a shield...:cuckoo:

Anyway, I tried to convey the fear that someone is in your house and you no longer feel safe.

Cheers.

nice one Andy... good sense of fear and terror in those eyes..or have you suddenly heard the missus coming up the stairs... 'photography in the bedroom again ANDY!!' lol.. but great shot. i thought of similar ie in the house...seen frames like that before and they didn't work as there was less, but yours works with your PP..and i know its the bed frame? ... slightly confusing oddment behind your head :suspect:

but now all i can think of this .. so if Pete Burns is coming for me .. :bat: i'm a ready for ya!!

Cheers, yeah an unusual bed frame.

Hmmmm, of your safe postings I still prefer the 1st. The expression is the better of the two with your daughter and I don't like the processing of your self portrait. However I appreciate that was part of the means to develop the atmosphere.

Thanks, and no problems with you not liking the processing. It does look a bit better on my laptop...I suspect I need to get it calibrated.

I think the latest offering is slightly ruined by your choice of wallpaper and duvet cover

It's a great idea, I get the meaning, and the focus/DOF is perfect, I am just too distracted by the above.

Fair point about the wallpaper and duvet cover. The duvet cover is a bit bright but I didn't want to change anything.

Thanks all.

Totally love the first image for Safe Andy.
Spotted it on the contact flickr feed and knew it would be your safe as soon as I saw it.

The eyes on Isabelle make the picture.
The grain adds to the edgy feel of the picture, but I'd like to see one with out.

Your last two weeks have been two of your best.

Hiya Andy,

Wow!!!! The first of your safe shots is fantabulous!!!! It has a profound impact and defo speaks 'safe'.

Can't say I am as impressed the the other shots .... purely because #1 hits the mark for me.

Well done though.

And well done to daughter & mum for posing so well for the shot.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Andy

think this is another vote for the 1st of your Safe shots....great idea & conveys the theme perfectly ...like the mono, Isabelles expression & the subtle frame....well impressed mister

Thanks miss....:D

Thanks, I might even get #1 a poster, admittedly, not a very cheerful one...

Well, I spent some time last night around the LGI in Leeds trying to get my living.

I got a few strange looks, almost got the photograph, but, after setting it up, the guy got up and walked away....:exit:

I have a standby which I hope to do Friday night.

Not easy of late....

Cheers all.....

Hey Andy,

Don't fret, I'm getting the strong feeling that these themes are getting more challenging each week to challenge us. Omg .... thank goodness there are only a few more to go!

I'm intrigued to see what your shot is though ;)

Cheers

Dawn :)

Well, spent some time getting this one done, in camera, before the cigarette ran out....:gag:

I borrowed a roll-up from a mate at work having nearly collapsed when I was told how much 10 cigarette's cost.

On reflection, I wish I had invested in 10 cigarettes because I had about 5 puffs before the damn thing was gone.

Focus is out, framing is out and no eye contact. I think eye contact through the smoke would have taken it up a few levels.

I often look at folk smoking and Red from Shawshank Redemption springs to mind when he says, "Get busy living or get busy dying!".

Strange week. I've been, to paraphrase Captain Blackadder, about as inspired as a the famous Professor of Uninspiredness at the London University of Lacklustre.

Anyway, here ya go:

Light, one of those, "I know exactly what I'm going to do!".

I do like them, if I say so myself, and they came out, almost, as previsualised....always wanted to use that word.

#2 is a tad oof, but working with full on flash in the face may also be a factor....my sight will, hopefully, return.

May not be my last attempts at this theme. Also, I bought 10 Silk Cut....:gag: because I want to have another go at my Living theme. I promise, I won't inhale....:whistling:

No comments yet on my Living....

Come on people, we're nearly there....we all need a final push, and not a fizzle out...:thumbs::thumbs:
