Posiview's Photo 52 'Nature' added **FINISHED!!**

Epic fail here, me thinks :shake:

So, I thought the female Derrière (sp) is rather sensual. Thought better about asking Jackie so had a go with 2 spoons.

Not impressed, really. But I have a try at something different:I didn't have the right lens so had to crop and zoom in in PP, colours are naff, sky (addded) is haff.....yadda, yadda, yadda.

The origional image is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/leedssamuraimartialartsseminar2008/5878766218/in/photostream/.

I'm away until Sunday so no chance of a reshoot.....

Cheers and good luck with your week 26....

Hmmm, I could say so much but :shake::shake::shake:

Hi Andy

as soon as I saw your shot I thought of a bum.....great idea (especially as it was spoons )so well done for trying it  For me it almost works.....the fake sky lets it down though . Maybe by using a darkish background & some clever lighting (which I'm sure you could do) it could have looked like a bodyscape ?

Hmmm, I could say so much but :shake::shake::shake:

Silence is golden...;)

Hi Andy, as you hace said it all yourself, I shall not repeat it. I look forward to seeing your next instalment for sensual. This is one heck of a tough theme:thumbs:

Cheers, and I'd agree, this was not one of the easiest ones -I guess this is what pushes us to push ourselves...:)

...andy..i took the easy option....though i thought inside the box this time...

I agree totally with your assessment and recommendations. I visualised the final photograph but the result was not what I wanted.

AAAnnnnyywwaayyy, I now have Thursday off work so I'm going to see if I can improve (coough!) on my first attempt....:D

I had several ideas in mind but I'm away from Wednesday to Sunday...

Here's my attempt at sensual. I've c&c myself....but anymore are welcome.

See Flickr link at end for origional image.

andy i must admit i'd looked at the flickr image and saw how you did it like spoons ... i just think the flesh colour wasn't there...and maybe smaller spoons..??

but a big  for creativity ... thats where art comes into play... not so much fooling us into thinking its some ones .. bum :$ ... but giving the illusion that it is a bum .. and the viewing making that association...

not plugging any of my boxes ... but i wondered if people would see them how i see them....

andy..i want to see more like this.... :bat: !!

As the great man himself said, "'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all."

I'm glad I tried this: although it didn't come off as I imagined it.

Anyway, I wonder if a manly week 27 has been posted ;)

manly? ... elaborate... YEAH thats manly... go for a car engine..v8 or v12..something with so many pipes coming out of it people might think it was octopie having a fight????

HHmmm, I thought I'd already posted week 26...

Anyway, as soon as I saw the theme, one think sprang to mind, the double helix.

So Isabelle 'volunteered' (as you can see by her face, somewhat reluctantly!) to assist.

I've done a second take and will post it later. I have quite a few ideas for this theme...strange how that happens...

I've already seen the busy background, but I had a small window of opportunity before Isabelle upped and scarpered!!

and whose DNA was this from andy ;)

maybe you should have found somewhere to hang it from with fine thread...?

Hi Andy

like your thinking behind the shot for Elaborate....although it may have created issues with shadows I'd kinda like to have seen the Helix on a white background ?

Still , you managed to have plenty of ideas & get one posted before I even saw the theme:lol:

Cheers, I might have another play. Although when I look at Isabelle she just shakes here head...:shake:

Lynne, do you mean shadows from the Helix?

Cheers.

Hiya Andy

I like the idea behind the helix for the elaborate theme ... however, as beautiful as Isabelle is ... I don't think you have the composition just right and indeed it looks like you are having daggers thrown in the second pic.

May I make a suggestion regards composition for this one .... I think it would be great if you could somehow get a photo with you and Isabelle sitting back to back but not direct contact, if you know what I mean, so a side profile view with the helix hanging between your heads ... preferably with a dark background so the focus is on the actual helix and then the focus fading outwards. I have a picture in my head but trying to explain it in words is not easy ... however I think it would make for a very elaborate photo and emphasis the elaborate nature of the helix and the complexity behind same.

Well done though on the quick idea for the theme.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Nice and elaborate... however...

Perhaps a close up (dare I say macro?) version...

BTW I think she might not be wanting to pose anymore (are those daggers in the eyes in the last shot?)

Thanks, she got fed up very quicky!

At the risk of getting another fed up face, I might give this a try.

There were loads of ideas I wanted to try but time and a fed up model hindered me.

Cheers.

Well week's 1 - 26 are under our belts. Let's hope 27 - 52 tax us a bit more...

I posted my first take on elaborate here (see thread 369), I got confused/giddy/drunk so make a mistake...feel free to comment...

Here's my 2nd take on elaborate. I took an old digital watch apart, what I photographed was about the size of 2 stamps. I took a number of photographs with my kit lens and a reversing ring I bought a while ago. I was surprised with the results from a piece of kit that cost a few quid...

Focus is an issue because what you see is very dark and I had to use a small torch.

Two variations:

Hiya Andy,

Wow I must have missed this along the way .... so I'm glad you have finally sorted out your project to be in one thread, it keeps things so much simpler.

As for latest photo of the watch ... WOW ... that is pretty impressive. I like both images and you have composed the montage very well.

What is a reversing ring? I'll have to check that out. I'm currently looking at some kit to do macro shots and saw Mentalblock's post about his newly acquired extension tubes and was thinking that could be an answer ... however I am also keen to hear about this reversing ring you have. I realise that the best option would be to buy a macro lens, but unfortunately funds won't permit at the moment after an elaborate birthday splash

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks, I had great fun with this theme.

I'd really like to get a macro lens but funds won't allow and even if I did have the funds I'd most likely get a wide angle....there's always something else I want...:shake:

I attatch my reversing ring to my camera, in the same way I do my lens, and then screw the lens (in reverse) onto the adaptor.

A tripod is a must because you have to get very close - not good for anything that moves.

It suits my needs (at the moment!).

Cheers.

Hi andy

Well done with these shots... I think i'd have preferred to see just one shot but including more detail... ie more of the circuit board... I think that would be more elaborate!

Great work...

Mark

Hi, and thanks.

I'm not sure what the resolution would look like if I uploaded one image the size of the six posted - I'll have a go.

Cheers.

Hi Andy,

 For kit lens and reversing rings.
You've done a fantastic job at getting the focus so sharp - and I love the way that you've presented them as a collage / montage (never sure which is the right word for it )
Anyway, it works well whatever you decide to call it - I had no idea that the insides of an old watch were so interesting.

I think that the second arrangement just edges it for me. My only niggle is the one shot of the "round white thingy" (bottom middle on the first version). It just seems to stand out from the others too much.

Thanks, Lynne.

They are far from easy to get right: lighting, focus are a 'mare.

I tried numerous arrangements and settled for what I posted; I didn't really see the white part, if I had I'd probably have cloned it.

Cheers.

Got home late today and decided to have another go at elaborate.

My daughter brought home a shell a year or so ago and I was lookng at it and realised how elaborate the shell was: the intricate details, colours and textures so I had to get my reversing ring out again much to the amusement of the 6 members of my family who were watching me from the livingroom...

Anyway, here it is. I'm not too keen on the border but I didn't want a black border.

Best viewed via Flickr (dark BG).

Hiya Andy, thats a great photo combo there. Sea shells are quite elaborate. I like the picture and it stands out nicely on the dark back ground of tp black. Your border colour fits well and complements the shell nicely.

Hiya Andy,

Like your elaborate take on the shell montage, with some depth to the shots. The top left has to be my favourite and reckon that would look great as a stand alone image.

The border is quite effective too.

Well done

Cheers

Thanks. It's only when you get a really close look at objects like shells that you really appreciate their beauty.

I've never wanted macro lens but I'm feeling the urge. Choice between a UWA and macro (or both..:nono:).

Cheers.

Andy... Defo your best Elaborate...I'd have gone for just the first or the third pic on their own though! Love these sorta shots big... ideal for desktop etc!

Great work... looking forward to seeing your party popper shots!

Both :D

105mm (150 or 180mm sigma) around 400 used (ish) 1:1 ratio...
Tamron 90mm think that was around 200?
Tokina 11-16 f2.8 :D well worth it.
Oh and don't forget the tubes :D manual a tenner... af around 100...

Thanks and the Tokina looks interesting. :D

Cheers, been planning my celebrate idea all day. Outside, low light, off camera flash. Did it work, nope, there was a 'skill gap' between what I 'pre visualised' and what my camera/camera gear/knowledge...:bang:

Anyway, I'm away from Leeds again and won't have acess to my camera...:runaway::beer:...

So I thought, 'celebrate' and then it came to me in a flash of inspiration and pride. My first 'cheat' as it's an old photograph, well 3 week's old!

Is it my best photograph? NO! Is it well processed? NO! Is it the best photograph I've posted? Hell yeah!!

I can actually see her mum and me in her left eye.

I post this with a literal tear in my eye :love::love:

My grand daughter.
